Our photographer was unavailable for an engagement shoot when we visited the area (destination wedding), but I wanted a nice picture to have blown up and have matted for wedding guests to sign in lieu of a guestbook. Over the holidays we had my uncle snap some shots of us (he’s a hobby photographer). We narrowed it down to about 5 shots we like, but none of them are “perfect” in my opinion. It was free though, so I’m not complaining.
Which do you think is the best?

- Wedding: August 2013 - The Liberty House
I guess the first… but for that purpose, I might try again with someone else if you can afford it- maybe get an engagement session from a photographer who lives by you?

@handincookiejar: I would go with #1 – it’s not my favourite picture of all of them though (my favourite is probably a close up of #2), but I chose it because it has the most room around it for people to sign. People can be a bit clever/creative and write something in the archway above you or on the steps in front of you as well, for example…
Do you have any other pictures with a plainer background that you could possibly use, so that maybe people’s messages are easier to read?

@handincookiejar: I’d either go with the second picture, or try another shoot. You two just dont look very comfortable, and it really comes across in the pictures.

@ksus07: They’ll be signing on the mat around the picture, not on the actual picture.
@allyfally: Agreed, that was our feeling about them too. These are all from the end of the day and the composition is better, but I was getting tired of the whole thing. That said, we’re pretty stiff people to begin with lol

@MeiFrancis: I’ve actually considered this. I don’t think we have enough time now, wedding is in 7 weeks. However, since the signatures will all be on the matte, I’m thinking I may just have one of the pictures from our actual wedding put in later.

@handincookiejar: I’d try again. One or the other of you looks relaxed, but never both. Get silly and ask the photographer to try some close ups, maybe. 🙂

@handincookiejar: I want to be really nice and help but I almost feel like a selfie would be better. It’s not that the photos are bad, it’s that both of you look really uncomfortable. Can you have a friend take some pictures? Or do you live by a art college – maybe a student can help you for a small fee. You mentioned you only have 7 weeks but maybe you can have a few taken in the evening or a weekend before?
Also, putting in a wedding picture sounds like a really great idea!

@Astra: Oh these are the good ones! I have about 30 others where we truly look like the most awkward people on earth. Which, again, we are pretty awkward people, so it’s true to life, but yeesh, we really tried!
