Growing up in a chinese household, we always had a rice cooker with the elephant on it. I believe the brand is called <font color="#0000ff">Zojirushi</font>
Also the fuzzy cook feature is nice to have, in case you don't measure the water correctly.
all of my family uses the korean brank Cuckoo. it's a pressure cooker and it's fabbbbbbbbbulous. it cooks rice (white.brown.etc) really well. it lasts around 8+ years too. it's a little pricey, but totally worth it! you can get it in los angeles at Kim's appliances on olympic.
