Swear – this is my last ring question!
I bought this oval aquamarine ring a few days ago and was absolutely in love with it! I intend on wearing it on my left hand even though it’s technically not my e-ring (I’m already married).
Then I saw this emerald aquamarine ring. I also really really like it! In fact, I love it too.
The rings are about the same price, with the emerald one being slightly less expensive (the oval one has a slightly higher carat weight in diamond) I would wear it alone as I wear my wedding band on my right hand.
I have to obviously return one of them. I know which one I am leaning toward but I wanted to hear others’ opinions.

I love the oval cut!!! Stunning.

@country chic: I’m not generally a fan of step cuts but that Emerald cut is stunning! I would keep that one for sure!

They are both pretty but the oval cut made me smile. And I love step cuts, so that is saying something!

Both are beautiful, but I feel like the emerald cut really flatters the properties of the aqua.

I don’t like round/oval cut, so I picked the emerald cut. However, I LOVE the color of the oval.

@lilbluebird: The colors in the photos are a little deceiving as in person they are both the identical color.
Let me try some other photos
OK these aren’t any better.

I chose the oval. Although I much prefer the IDEA of an emeral cut stone to an oval stone, that is not the case at all when I compare these two rings.
To me, in the oval ring, the aquamarine is the beautiful star of the show, and the halo even enhances it. In the emerald-cut ring, the halo is the star, and the aquamarine is not all that exciting. So, for me, the oval is the much more beautiful ring of the two.

They’re both gorgeous but I prefer the oval.
Did you find them online? If so, where? I would love to get something like that for a RHR… unfortunately our house was broken into last week and my small collection of RHRs was taken, all of it family jewelry given to me including a pearl and diamond ring, and an opal and diamond ring.
I went to Forever XXI last weekend and got some cheapo stackable rings until I figure out what to do! LOL
I’ve never had an aquamarine, but the ones you’re looking at are gorgeous!

wow, i’m torn. i really like both of them. the oval is more feminine and the emerald is really substantial.
which one do you think you will enjoy wearing long term?

Oval. I notice the center stone more, and it looks really lovely on your hand. I may or may not be an oval girl myself. 😉

@BelliniChic: Sorry, I did not find them online. 🙁
I wish I had taken photos of the sides of them. One of the things that kind of turns me off about the oval ring is the basket is completely solid, like a bowl. On the emerald cut one the basket is more open and has more detail, and there are small diamonds on the sides of the basket.
I’m not sure which I would like wearing more longterm. I like how the emerald is bead set and it has the bit of metal around it. I like the higher diamond carat weight of the oval one though.
In person, the emerald one looks more expensive, even though it’s the cheaper of the two.
Boy, this is tough!

I am personally not a huge fan of most aquas (i’m a march baby and I just got sick of seeing it lol), and I also personally perfer circular cuts to square.
Having said that, I really like the emerald cut more then the halo. I just think it’s a prettier ring! Both are really nice though, so I don’t think you could go wrong. And having read what you said about the baskets of the rings makes me like the emerald one even more!
