    The one that caught my eye and looked the most unique was the ascher cut ring.  Sooooooo pretty!!!

    To be honest, I wouldn’t go for the asscher (though it isn’t a true asscher, it looks more like a cut-cornered square baguette). The concept is very pretty but I think in real life you’d be disappointed by the stone. I can see just from the photo that almost the entire area under the table is windowed, which basically means that that whole area is going to look dead and you are going to be looking straight through it at your skin instead of seeing any play of light or reflections. If you choose to go for a stone with a relatively low refractive index like morganite, I would suggest you choose a more brilliant cut like a round.

    Yeah. Don’t get me wrong, I love asschers (favorite shape!) but if you want a step cut, I’d choose a different gem. I think a sapphire or lab alexandrite would be lovely.
