So I am looking at two choices for my e-ring right now.
The first is a micro pave halo setting that I would probably have custom made, the second is a Vache pave setting. Both would be set with a cushion cut FB moissanite (probably a 7mm) both would be made in platinum, both settings would be made with diamonds. I am a size 4 for reference.
Things I am keeping in mind: It’s a lot less risky to order a setting rather than have one made; I can always send it back if I’m unhappy with it, I’m stuck with a custom setting. I know a designer setting will be good quality, I don’t have any personal experience with the local jeweller. The simple Vache setting will never go out of style, the halo might.
*Also the fact that I’m going with moissanite over a diamond for my center stone may make a difference (the bees on here have more experience with this stone then I do). I don’t want there to be a noticeable difference in the color between the center stone and the diamonds surrounding it and/or the diamonds on the band. A moissanite may look better in one setting over the other.
Help I love them both!

Number 2, I am obsessed with Tacori! #1 is pretty as well, there are a lot of bee’s out there with a very similar style 🙂

I prefer the first one….its gorgeous to me! 2nd one is pretty but I just love halos and even thou you might see a lot of them on the bee…..I rarely see them IRL

@weddingbound: This is SO true! I have NEVER seen one IRL. But I’m in Canada so maybe they are more common in the US?? Also the halos I’ve seen in the stores look nothing like this one.

@SoonTooBee: both settings are stunning. i love them both.
if you are planning on putting a moissy in the centre, i would advise against the halo. with the moissy right next to the diamond halo, i think that you will notice a big difference with the stones and you will not be happy. the safer bet is the vatche setting. you may still see a difference but it won’t be as dominant.

@SoonTooBee: I think that a 7mm FB Moissy would look equally gorgeous in either of those two! #1 is a very popular style right now, but I vote #2 because it is classic. We can vote, but in the end I think you need to go with your gut.

Why would the halo be custom made? Just curious since there are tons of halos like it out there. If the custom route is all that’s holding you back from the halo I say keep looking for a halo that isn’t custom made.

@MrsWBS: I actually haven’t seen one anything like this locally. I have seen lots online but they all have aspects I don’t really like (usually the profile view) if I go the custom route then can create it how I want it. I find a lot of the halos have a lot going on underneath and I like simplicity. It would be a lot easier though if I could just find one I like rather than having it made.

I personally love the halo, but it’s a preference thing. The poll is divided in the middle! I’m madly in love with the halo style!!
@MrsWBS: I agree with you, that there are tons of halos already designed out there. It just means searching for one that could be sold without a center-stone. Great idea.
I had a custom wedding band made and was very happy with the result. I initially gave tons of details on what I wanted (after doing much research on the weddingbee, hah!). Then I approved a computer drawing of the band, and then it took two wax molds before I was happy with it. It was way more expensive than finding a ready-made band but it was my only option with my style of e-ring
