FI and I are undecided about the save the dates. They will only be going out to our friends. Our families do not expect save the dates. The first one matches our invitations exactly. It's basically a sneak peek of the invite design. The second is super simple and kind of blunt but it fits our personalities. FI really likes that it will be different from our invites and gives us an opportunity to be more casual/fun.

Our wedding has some formal elements (venue is at a yacht club, my dress is fit and flare and the boys will be in tuxes) but the overall vibe will be fun/quirky. I really like the second StD but I'm worried that it's TOO simple. What do you think? Which StD would you use?

I really like the formal one more. For me the casual one is a little to "BAM! In your face."  And the first is very pretty.

Then again you said it fits your personality and they are only going to friends. Based on this info the casual one could work if your friends will find it amusing. As far as the design goes I think the simplicity of the second one works well. The different font sizes and sassiness of the STD certainly makes it interesting.

I know the second one is supposed to be fun and casual--which I totally get--but it's also comes across a little demanding. Tone is SO hard to portray through words alone. I would go with #1 as is OR #2 with some text changes.

I like the second one. While it does stand out I think its more fun and the information is clear. Go with your instincts. Whichever one you choose will be great.

@bijou214: I'm posting pictures of my invitation suite later tonight, the ENTIRE thing is on the premise of fun/quirky and very much favors your second STD. I've had multiple compliments. It doesn't take away from the elegance of your wedding, it just lets people know it's also going to be outgoing and fun.

    :)

#2 - As long as it really only is for friends...  It would be offensive for family, but memorable for friends :)

Love the second ones! First ones are dull as dust.

    And yay for RB!

I like the 2'nd one but I think you have to think about what your invites will be like, and what the feel of your wedding will be.  If it'll be fun and quirky go w/ the 2'nd one.  If it's going to be more formal/tradional, go w/ the first.

i love the 2nd one. I think its fun and it will be a way for you to show your personality. I dont think anyone would get offended by the 2nd one cause lets be serious, if they don't know you well enough to realize that you're being silly and having a little fun before the wedding... they probably dont need an invite! Plus the pink compliments the swirls that mimic your invitation suite =)
