My co-workers and I were just having a random conversation and it came out that all three women in the convo sleep on the left side of the bed and the one guy in the convo sleeps on the right. A little eerie, no?
So, I'm curious, which side do you sleep on?

Also for clarification I'm talking about when you're looking at the bed, not laying in it. So, if you're standing at the foot of the bed looking forward at the pillows, are you on the left or right?
I switch back and forth but prefer the left side. Actually it really depends on the set up of the room if I'm traveling!
I sleep on the left, but its mostly because the right side is closer to the door, and it makes me feel safe :)
I voted that I sleep on the right if you're looking at our bed standing at the foot-board. But honestly we only get to sleep together on weekends because I work thirds so usually I'm in the middle! ha!
But when we first started living together I slept on the left. But I have this bad habit of turning off the alarm and not knowing it while sleeping and FI was late on more than one occasion because of me. After that, he banned me to the right side of the bed.
I sleep on the right. I don't really care one way or the other, but my husband prefers the left side. Now I can't imagine sleeping any other way.
um… you need another option called other. I tend to get very hot when I sleep and prefer to be next to the window. In our old apt. it was the left side but when we moved, the window was on the right side. FI wasn't too happy about switching sides and it took a few weeks to adjust but he's happier when I'm not tossing and turning all night and waking him up.
I sleep on the left side, if standing at the foot of the bed. My FI sleeps on the right because it's closest to the door, and he says if anyone ever came in, they'd have to go through him to get to me. Honestly, they'd never make it. LOL.
Are you describing the side when laying down or when looking at the bed from the footboard?
I'm left side laying down / right side when looking from the footboard.
ETA: This will likely change when we move. I get whatever side is closest to the window in the room as DH wants to be as far from the window as possible.
I always sleep on the side of the bed closest to the door... which makes no sense really since DH is always getting up before I do.

I am not sure if this describes standing at the foot of the bed and looking at it?
Then I would be on the right, if I am in bed, that is the left.

Before I met my husband, I always slept on the right, but since we started sleeping in the same bed, I had to switch to the left because we both prefer to sleep on our right sides and if we switched we would be facing each other. That wouldn't work because he has a bit of restless leg syndrome and would be kicking me all night otherwise:)
Also, he has REALLY bad breath at night and I have a super-sensitive sense of smell, so I couldn't bear to have him breathing in my face. That said, I sleep better with him than any other man I have every shared a bed with. Even better than alone and I never thought I would say that:)
Typically I sleep on the left. Closest to the door... and furthest from the window! I like to have that beeline for the bathroom and he runs warmer then me so having the window closer to him is a good thing. :D
I sleep on the left side. FH has the right side when he's here, the rest of the time, my dog has the right side and he picked the right side.
I used to sleep on the left at his apartment. Now we live at my apartment and I sleep on the right. My choice in sides is TOTALLY determined by which side is closer to the bathroom. :)
Oops! I voted the wrong way. If you're looking at the bed, then I usually sleep on the left side of the bed. Even when I sleep by myself, I tend to favor that side instead of just sleeping in the middle of the bed.
@napabridekelsey: me too! I like being away from the door. SN - I also always choose the last bathroom stall. lol.
I'm a girl and I sleep on the right. It's just happened to always be closer to the wall in all of our shared-bed bedrooms, and I like sleeping in a "nook" like that. Not sure if we'd switch or not if the bedroom setup ever changed.
I'm a girl and it changes. I dont have one particular side. I will sleep one one side for a few months and then decide I want to switch. Its always been this one for us!
I sleep on the right, which in our room is further from the door. However, my fiance is such a heavy sleeper that I doubt he'd wake up if someone broke in!
I've always slept on the right, no matter where we've lived or slept. I've heard a lot of women talk about the theory of the guy sleeping closer to the door, but we've been in so many different houses (when we lived apart and then we've lived in 2 places since moving in together) and I've never considered that. The sides we sleep on just feel right and it feels weird to switch!
Our bed is pushed in a corner of the room, so I'm on the right because it's the side that is against the wall. FH wants to be closest to the door so in case anything happens (an intruder?), he can protect me. Well that's what he says. I think it's because he doesn't want to sleep by the wall-- it's annoying to have to climb over the other person and the dog to get in bed. It's ok because when I'm in bed, he is the person who has to get up to let the dog in, answer the door, get the remote, etc. I always tell him, "Well, you insisted on sleeping on that side of the bed so you have to get up!" Haha! Also, as soon as he gets up in the morning, I move over to his side. :)
We sometimes switch but I generally sleep on the left...BUT, I will say that I always pick the side that's closest to the bathroom! So when we travel it changes a little, but in the 3 places we've lived, the left side has always been the bathroom side. I am 6, and have a tiny bladder.
Oh, geez. FI says HE sleeps on the left. I should say: I voted thinking about which side I sleep on if you look at the bed from the footboard (left). If you're lying down, I'm on the right. Hope that doesn't mess you up!
I flop around all night, but almost always recently it's face down, hugging my pillow. I cannot fall asleep if my back is to the door, so at my apartment because my bed is against the wall with the door I usually fall asleep on my back, if I'm elsewhere it's usually my right, curled up in fetal for at least a little while.
I sleep on the left side because I tend to sleep on my left side and like to face DH while I sleep.
Crap - I answered wrong. I answered before I read your description of how you determined left/right. Take one away from left and put it to right.

it really depends on how the room is set up. to me the guy should always be the closest to the door for protection if any intruder ever comes. right now i sleep on the right. couple months before i slept on the left because we had a different room arrangement... as always i sleep furthest from the door.
i didn't care about sides, but i sleep on the right b/c it's closest to the bedroom door (thinking in advance for a baby)
I toss and turn for a long time until I get comfortable and move around a lot in my sleep. We always like to touch somehow in our sleep so as long as that's happening it's all good!

I sleep away from the door. He sleeps closest to the door. Currently, I'm on the left.
@napabridekelsey: That is the same exact reason I sleep on the left! I have noticed where ever I go, I always sleep the farthest away from the door.
Haha Opps! I put left but I meant right, because I did the poll before I read your post. But yea looking at the bed I am on the right. I sleep on the right because it's further away from the bedroom door. I have always had this fear of someone busting through the bedroom door and getting too me first, hahaha. I don't know I am strange. FI is very sweet about it though and understands. But if we ever move the bed to where my side would be closest to the door, we would switch. So then I would be on the left.
we are currently living in a very tiny apt and there is no where to put the bed other than up against a wall. when he first started staying over i slept on the right side, but when we rearranged the furniture and moved the bed i slept on the left side. I like to be up agains the wall for some reason and he's always been closest to the door. But then, he gets up more than i do, so it makes more sense.
I sleep on the left side, always have. It's a great setup in our current room, because it puts me right next to the window unit (and I'm always hot and need noise and air circulation like nobody's business), and also, it puts DH between me and the door, which makes him happy.
