I adore John Lennon but in my opinion I like the "classic" version of this song. I feel as if they first two few notes inspire an "awwwwww!" feeling in me that I think would be a lovely start to a couple's first dance.
I hope this helps you out! 
Personally I like both a lot. But if it were my wedding I would probably choose the original version to dance to.
