Rascal Flatts – Bless the Broken Road

“Every long lost dream led me to where you are.

Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars.

Pointing me on my way into your loving arms

This much I know is true, that Go blessed the broken road that led me straight to you.”

Such a beautiful song that made me realise that every hard ship and heart break was in preparation for this Amazing man and amazing life that I have now 🙂

skyeatnight: So many! Janice Joplin pretty much sings to my soul, but this one came t mind immediately:

“Work me Lord” Janice Joplin-

Everyday I keep pushing,
Keep trying to move forward
But something is driving me, oh, back,
And something’s trying to hold on to me,
To my way of life, why.

“Ripple”-Grateful Dead

There is a road, no simple highway,
Between the dawn and the dark of night,
And if you go no one may follow,
That path is for your steps alone.

You, who choose to lead, must follow
But if you fall you fall alone.
If you should stand then who’s to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home.

I wouldn’t say that it “changed my life” or anything, but I just love “Bridge over Troubled Water” by Simon & Garfunkel. My mother wrote out the lyrics for me when I left home for college so it reminds me of her and that she’ll always be there for me.

skyeatnight: Have you seen this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJOrKnyH1DE

It gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes. So beautiful.

skyeatnight: i loveeee that song Fix You, I cry and get goosebymps everytime I hear it.

my song is Hey Jude by the Beatles. I lost my father when I was 13, and til this day I still think about him everyday. My mom and I have a rollercoaster relationship, shes a difficult person to deal with and Ive always tried to make her happy which I have now realized is impossible. I always worry about trying to please everyone. And when I listen to Hey Jude, I think that those are words my father would tell me

there are two lines to the song that are my favorite

“Hey Jude, don’t make it bad, take a sad song and make it better”

“And anytime you feel the pain, Hey Jude refrain, don’t carry the world upon your shoulders, for well you know that its a fool who plays it cool by making his world a little colder”

Train – Save The Day

“I don’t want to be your Superman

I just want to be your man and I’ll be super”

They lyrics didn’t save my life but they changed my perspective.

Incubus. They do it for me every time. I listened to them a lot when I was a teenager and forgot how much their music helped me through literally every mood I was ever in. Now that I’m in my late 20s, I find myself coming back to listening to their music a lot more. I have a few ‘go-to’ songs of theirs that I listen to when I’m stressed, but I could listen to anything by them and everything just melts away! This band has literally changed my life since I was a teenager!

I suppose you could say “A Different Light” by Sherwood. The line “cuz in the glimmer of your eye, I begin to see myself in a different light” inspired my okCupid username (adifferentlight) and that’s where I met FI.

anything Pearl Jam. They’ve seen me thru high school, college, marriage, all 3 pregnancies, divorce. Present Tense really helped thru divorce and gave me courage to get out of really horrible situation in first marriage. Seriously, I’ve listened to them for over 20 years now.

My fiance, who is truly too awesome for words, took me to my first PJ concert last year in Charlotte, and again this year in Cincinnati. He’s not even that big of a fan, yet he took me because he knows how I feel about them.
