So....in 30 days my FI and I will be leaving for Jamaica to get married. He is leaning towards kinky twists, I am leaning toward either micros or an afro...more toward the micros though.

Which style would the bees pick??

Disclaimer: The pictures aren't exactly what the actual styling of the 'fro, micros, or kinky twists would be...

I like the micros.  It just looks more "beachy" to me.  Are you getting married on a beach?

I voted for micros but I also like the afro. The micros will probably give you more variety especially since we don't know what your dress looks like but I think you could have a gorgeous headband or barrette / fascinator if you chose to wear the afro...

    Great pictures!

Oddly, and I can't explain why, I agree with your FI. I just like the kinky twists!

@Tulip...we are getting married on the beach. That's another reason why I was leaning towards micros...I can take them down post-ceremony and get some nice bohemian pics...flowy dress, flowy hair...

@RoddyBride...I love afros...my FI...not so much...LOL. I have a postiing that shows the dress but I will put it here again so neither of us has to go searching =)

@cheerful...I love them too =) It's a low maintenance way to "tame the mane" b/c now that I am taking vitamins...the fro is about 5 inches longer than what's on the photo. The kinky twists actually stops where my hair stops.

I also have a picture of my accessories with the kinky twists...although I am doing live tropical flowers I bought the flower pins just in case...

I am still really liking the micros now that I see your dress and accessories and especially since you are having a beach wedding.  I just think it fits the look perfectly!

I really like the micros. I think it would be perfect for a beach wedding and I think that style will look great with your dress, which is beautiful by the way!

LOVE THE AFRO!! It will look fantastic when wet etc (as would would the braids but I just have a jill scott bohemian obsession with afros and wish i could wear and rock one!!) it's not a good luck for me when I try it.

So...I had a little talk with the FI...he said that he was "putting his foot down" (insert LOL) about the afro...he prefers kinky twists but will be fine with micros. Since he has been great about everything else...kinky twists or micros it is...

Bless his heart...I have changed hairstyles at least 5 to 7 times in the past 3 years and the ONLY style he has objected to is the afro =( He likes afros...just not on me..

OMG that dress! Those earrings! That bracelet! That flower! You look like a queen in them! Beautiful!

Okay, I totally got distracted. I like the kinky twists because they have volume, but they are also versatile. Yay! Only one month. I am excited to see the real photos (if you decide to share).

I voted for the twists. I really like how you look with them and if you are planning on swimming, snorkling, etc after the wedding, you'll be glad to have a low-maintenance do!

I voted Micros, I love the easy style-ability and whimsical look of them... they seem to match your dress, jewelry and beach wedding best of the 3. However- you look great in ALL styles!

@Miss Sequoia...thanks!! I am usually so decisive when it comes to my hair so I don't know what's my deal now =( Thankfully I have a few weeks to make a final decision. I only had to worry about my clothing/accessories/hair so I can only imagine what kind of state I would be in if I actually planned the wedding. I have so much empath for my almost hubby

@Arizona...you touched on exactly what I was thinking. I can do whatever...wash...condition..and let the sun dry it. No blow dryers, curlers, or maintenance of any kind.

@kjpugs...yep..micros are very versatile...moreso than kinky twists but require a bit more maintenance.

I am going to have to ask my mama...LOL. When all else fails, ask mama

I loooove kinky twists.  I do my natural hair this way often.  However, the micros look fabulous on you and I think the maintenance of it all will work best for the wedding and the honeymoon.  Girlfriend you are gorgeously rocking all those styles.  I love the fro as well.  Getit-getit-getit girl!  LOL!!!  I love the micros on you though.

I looked back through my folder of inspiration photos and decided to go with micros. I will post pics when they are done and after I put them in the various styles I am considering. Thanks for all of your input guys....the bees are the best!!

@crebre...I asked my mom and she said micros of course...you have kinky twists now so you need to do something different...she doesn't like my afro either...LOL!

    @91011 Bride....you have me seriously cracking up...thanks

I got my "hur did boo"!! LOL!

After 10 agonizing hours at the braiding shop with my two favorite braiders...my head is now sore as all get out. But I must say the ladies outdid themselves this time. I am posting before and after pics. I need a few days before I actually style these suckers so the pain can subside...oh what we do for beauty!!

Thanks...I keep saying that I am going to wear makeup leading up to the wedding but I don't have time for all of that. I will probably do one full trial on myself where I do hair and makeup to make sure it photographs well.

I like the micros.  I tried on that same dress, and fell in love with it until I found MY dress.  It's a Galina, and similar to that one.  I love the sheath look on us thick girls.  It gives us a beautiful hourglass shape, and accentuates all of the positive areas on our bodies.  Rock it in JA girl.

@dsu...I love my dress. It's bridal, comfortable, and very flattering.

@krissycake...I love afros too. I just love the soft sponginess of my hair when it's in its natural state.

@crebre...exactly...that humidity =) I would have a half-fro...half straight, half afro by the time the wedding was done...LOL

@crebre...I am going to have to train my hair to that Charleston humidity when I relocate. I am trying not to put chemicals in my hair but I am not trying to do all of that flat-ironing just to have an afro a few hours later.

@crebre...I have only worn my hair flat-ironed twice...LOL! I usually just rock the fro when I don't have braids or kinky twists. This hairdo was a result of request from the FI =) I told him that when it's time for my braids to come out, I will find a stylist in Charleston who knows how to work with natural hair and I will wear it straight for a while b/c I love him so much...LOL. We'll see how long that lasts...

@Future Mrs....surprisingly it takes a LOT to maintain my afro b/c my hair is so darn thick. If I don't style it just right...the weight of it makes it fall into a natural part down the middle =) It was easier when my hair was shorter but it won't play nice now.

I am secretly convinced my FI wants me to get a relaxer but that's not happening.....at least not any time soon =)
