Typically, if it is the owner of the business you are not required to tip. Also, if the gratuity is included in the contract, like with the caterer. All of our vendors are the owners of the companies, and although, we are not required to tip, we will be tipping based on performance. I will send their tip to them when I send a thank you after the wedding. I don’t believe in pretipping. I believe it should be soley based on performance.

I only tipped my hairdresser and that’s because he did my highlights and my hair the day of the wedding for free – as a wedding gift. I did not tip any other vendors. They certinly cost enough.

I guess we will tip our bartenders and servers. I hadn’t thought about it too much, but some of our vendors I’ve gotten sort of friendly with such as our coordinator and photographer. I may just give them thank you gifts and send cards with gifts after the wedding.

I tipped my photographer, my wedding coordinator, the wait staff/ bartenders and the hairstylists.
