I was just recently married this past January. We got married with some stand in rings and now my husband is ready to get me my real set. I am torn between which band to get plain diamonds or one with sapphires. I do love sapphires and wanted to add something different to my set but not sure if it will take away from my diamond. what do you ladies think?

I think this is more of a question of style. Are you more modern or classic?

@AlwaysSunny: I would consider myself more modern.

The Sapphire ring would bring a subtle pop of color:)

If you say your more modern than I vote for the sapphite. While sapphires themselves aren’t exactly modern, the miligrain in other band is definitely more vintage-y.

I think either would look nice. It is hard to tell which I like better without a picture of them with your ering. Personally, I love blue sapphires with diamonds because it makes the diamonds pop a little bit more, imo. I don’t think you can go wrong either way though. Have you tried any on in stores? That’s what I would do. Go try them on, see what you like better.

I’m usually all for diamond only bands. But, the miligrain in the one you posted just makes it seem like it wouldn’t mesh with your engagement ring.
It’s all about preference. Both look like wedding bands – so there’s no worry on that part. It just comes down to if you’re classic and traditional (all diamond) or are you unique and like to be different (gemstone band)
eta: I also think that the carat size of your diamond may affect what looks best. Sapphires are going to attract the eye more than all diamonds, with a smaller center stone it may pull the attention too much and overpower rather than complement.

I decided to go with the sapphire and diamond band. I also changed my er ring setting to a regular comfort band because I was worried about the gap there would be between the 2 rings. I love the tapered look but I know that gap would bother me. My stone is .62 and the setting width is 2.5mm. The wedding band is width is 2.0mm so I think it will be ok. Thats one thing i hate about ordering online it is like a guessing game. Hopefully it wil all look good. This is the new setting Thanks for your help!

I’m the same way about gaps. They’re fine for other people, but my OCD wouldn’t allow me to wear two rings on the same finger that didn’t line up EXACTLY. When I first saw your post earlier this morning, @ashley99: the first thing I thought about was that there will be a gap with your tapered ering… I like the new classic tiffany setting better. Good choice!
