I'd have to say Oscar De La Renta.

Just reading the title of the thread before I even opened it, I thought Oscar de la Renta.

This might see a bit off, but both ML and VW sell their less-expensive wares in places like Kohl's, David's Bridal and Nordstrom (ok so Nordstrom is still higher end, but the dresses aren't very expensive and are rumored to have quality issues, whatever ;) ).  To me, this almost 'cheapens' the brand in my eyes.  Sure, Oscar took a turn at Target and even tried O by Oscar, but it flopped and he pulled it, and now he's exclusively high end.  His brand is aspirational, whereas just about anyone can afford to pick up a Monique or Vera dress at a much less expensive price point.

Plus, great googly moogly, his dresses are out of control gorgeous.
