So i know that photo booths are the latest craze and everyone is doing it. i mentioned it to FI and got no. he hates the idea and think they are a waste of money ($1000) and that alot of people wont use it. we are only having a small amont of friends attend but his family who are very *stick up their arse* cough wont
i was given a quote from the same lady who did our engagement shoot photos to be a ‘reception’ photographer ($350), basically she will photograph our guests, decorations and our first dance and cutting of the cake. FI loves this idea as the pics wont be of our guests with silly fake moustaches but nice elegant professional that we can gift to guests and hang on walls.
which would you choose and why?

I would choose a reception photographer.

We had a photo booth and I was really disappointed that only about half our guests did it. It was manned by a professional photographer and had a backdrop my husband and his father has painted that matched our invitations even! If I had to do it again, a second photographer or having our videographer there for the whole reception would have been more worth it. Of course if almos everyone had used it I would feel differently!

@lessthan3: thats the big ticket thing. Spending $1000 on something that may not even get used whereas even if all guests say no to Prue taking photos i will get some nice ones of our first dance, decorations, and cutting the cake for just over a third of the price

I’d go with the reception photographer as well. Sounds like you will get more bang for your buck that way.

Almost no one used our photobooth even though it was very visible and well stocked. I say go for the photog.
