Yes!! Get the drugs!! As long as it's safe for baby there is no reason for you to put up with feeling like that. Right before we went on vacation a year ago I got my second UTI in 3 months and I made the doctor give me a SHOT of antibiotics because there was no way I was going to spend my vacation feeling crappy!
I'm sorry you aren't feeling well! I would call your doctors office and see what they suggest. If it's bacteria that's causing the problem, antibiotics can help, but if it's viral or really related to allergies, antibiotics won't do any good.
not to be TMI, but when it was just a pain and "clear", I wouldn't have gone to the Dr, but my ear is uncomfortable non-stop and we've moved to the "gross" colored "fluids" now :(
I would definitely go in before you leave, whether they give you anything for it will be depending on what they think it is and whether or not it will make a difference, but don't go on your babymoon without at least consulting the dr to find out what will make you feel better :)
I can't give you any advice about your illness, but I do have advice about your anemia. I have been using Solgar Gentle Iron supplements throughout pregnancy to pevent anemia and they are fantastic. They do not make me feel nauseas at all (which normal iron does). They also have more iron than most other iron supplements. There is the correct amount in 1 pil for the 1st and 2nd trimesters. In the 3rd trimester, you will need a bit more. You can get them at Whole Foods or they sell them amazon. Take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and take with citrus or apricot juice. If you also take vitamin C, take that then too. Just don't take with dairy, coffee, tea, or other multivitamins (they make it so your body can't absorb the iron).
I got REAL sick a week before a wedding I was in. Begged my doctor for a 5-day Z pack to kick the ass of the sinus infection that was kicking mine. She gave it to me and i was all better by Saturday.
Sounds like you COULD have an ear infection. In which case you DO need antibiotics, plus some ear drops. My sinus infections frequently turn into middle ear infections (sometimes without me knowing it) and they're AWFUL.
I would go to the Dr. and see what is going on. Antibiotics only clear up bacterial infections, so if you have one of those, then it'll def be worth getting them. Even if you have something viral or allergies, I'm sure the Dr. can help with those too. Hope you feel better!
cool, thanks for the advice..luckily I haven't been on antibiotics in YEARS, so I don't think I have too much built up tolerance to them...my parents are on them like at least 3x a year! I think we just have the sort of sinuses that tend to get infected easily, even when we try to be proactive w/ nose spray, etc etc
aww, i hope the doctor is able to prescribe something that works quickly before your babymoon!
That's good that you're not on antibiotics very often. Unfortunately what can happen is bacteria develop resistance to specific antibiotics (even if you haven't been on them, someone else has and that's where the bacteria develop resistance, and then you pick up the bacteria somewhere).
Here is an interesting website:
Heck yes get some drugs! I had pregnancy anemia too, so i feel ya there! :)
Definitely go get evaluated. You don't want to suffer needlessly. I'm sorry you are feeling awful! My heart goes out to you, as I was sick frequently (from working in the ER) while pregnant. It was no fun at all!
Go get checked out, you shouldn't be feeling all miserable, especially while on your babymoon. I hope you feel better soon!
It might be too late for you to see this but I highly suggest carrying some Afrin with you on your flight also.
Whether or not its allowed during pregnancy, I'm not sure but if your ears are blocked then you could bust an eardrum from pressurization changes while flying. I fly for a living and I always have Afrin in my bag for an emergency. I am 8 months pregnant and I would definitely use it rather than risk a busted ear drum. They are no joke.
I hope you get to enjoy your Babymoon!
Yes! might be too late, but I was really sick last week and the antibiotics cleared it all up - I was literally feeling better within 12 hours. If you have an infection that is not good for you/baby either!

Please let me whine! So, I had a ton to get done @ work before my babymoon that starts TOMORROW. It's been in the works forever, and we fly back on Monday.
Well, Friday I thought I was having allergies and by Sunday I knew it was definitely a virus. I've tried nasal strips, nasal wash, saline spray, hot showers, breathing over boiling water, sudafed, rest, hot tea, gargling salt water, etc...NOT for lack of trying, I am still having some *gross stuff* coming out of my body now...
Normally I'd wait a day or 2 to see if I could flush it out w/o instantly asking for drugs, but please tell me it is OK to go beg for antibiotics before I fly. I'm coughing up stuff, my ear has had that clogged feeling nonstop for a day, my throat hurts, and it's hard to sleep bc I can't breath. (at no point yesterday could I breath through both nostrils) :(
I'm just feeling sorry for myself right now, bc normally I use medicated nose spray when I have a cold, and I've been told it's NOT safe during pregnancy. Just sucks that I spend my weekend and my trip sick, when I've been working SO hard lately, and this is my only real time off this year before my baby is due 8/30.
My family drives me crazy that they are constantly on antibiotics for sinus infections, but this makes sense to get the drugs, right?! :-\
Edit: I also found out yesterday I have (pregnancy-related) anemia, so I think that's why a simple cold is kicking my bootay.
