Do you have a local whiskey distillery? We do in my town and it is a pretty good whisky. I would consider looking locally, as well 🙂

For whatever you get, I would get the whisky stones to go with it that come with a nice bag.  I got these for friends this xmas with bourbon Knobb Creek http://www.ebay.com/itm/321287173233

The guys really liked it.  You could go with Jameson Irish Gold or a rye whiskey which are becoming more popular like Bulleit 95 rye and area a lot cheaper.  Could make a basket with the stones, knobb creek and bulleit rye under $100.

I just asked DH who is a big bourbon guy and he said Blanton’s bourbon (single barrel), Booker’s, and Basil Hayden are all good. I got him a bottle of the Sazerac Rye for Christmas and he about shit himself so that would probably go over well. He also suggests the whiskey stones and Glencairn glasses, which are on Amazon. They’re good for tasting whiskey because something about breathing and concentrating aroma which I don’t fully understand but he’s obsessed with them. 🙂 I like the basket idea!

@Beachy0404:  I highly suggest tracking down a bottle or two of Buffalo Trace Single Oak Project. Here is a link that explains better than I ever could why it is such a cool bourbon: http://www.singleoakproject.com.

We did Jameson for our groomsmen.  But there was also kind of a personal tie-in because when my husband and those guys win free drinks at bowling they always get drinks made with Jameson and Seven Up, which they call “Jamos.”

It is a nice whiskey though.  I like it myself, (mixed, not straight for me!) and I’m not a big drinker.

Stepdad loves Chivas Regal, which we gave him for his gift.

For our top clients, we like to give the good scotches – 18 year Macallan, 14 year Balvenie, sometimes we give Glenfidditch (can’t remember the year).  Great gift! 😀

Yamazaki 18 year whisky. If that’s too pricey, the 12 is delicious too.

Have you heard of Jura? I have a bottle of Superstition going at the moment, but Prophecy would be a very nice gift! These are Scotch whiskeys that are a bit less well known and have nice looking bottles but won’t break the bank.
