- Wedding: June 2014 - San Francisco, CA
Backstory: Two dear friends of mine are getting married. Their STD came while we were out of town – the wedding is in February and it’s “Black and White Ball” themed (ala Truman Capote’s famous masquerade gala.) Black tie, super fancy. Not generally my style but I love this couple and am thrilled to see what they come up with. I don’t doubt they are going to go ridiculously all-out for it. If it were any other couple, I’d say it was super obnoxious to dictate stuff like this to guests, but these folks will definitely put on a grand spectacle. It’s going to be exciting. 😀 There’s no bride to offend, and their wedding website has “inspiration” pictures from the original that includes women in full-length white outfits, so none of the traditional restrictions apply!
Anyway, in the spirit of the theme, DH and I will be coordinating in black and white. I have a fantastic black evening gown that I serendipitously got on sale a couple of months ago. It is so flattering on my lumpy, awkwardly proportioned body. Now I just need white accessories. All I can think of are elbow-length opera gloves, but there have to be less cliched options out there, right? Bees are good at this kind of stuff: what would y’all do?
Also, DH was thinking of renting one of those white tux jackets with black piping. I think it’s a little 80s, but wasn’t sure. Thoughts?
(Of course, if money were no object, I’d LOVE to show up in something like this haha. Too bad I’m not a movie star.)
