I feel like J Crew might have something along those lines...Ann Taylor... Maybe check out stores that are less 'wedding' stores?
Ann Taylor didn't have anything I liked that fit the bill, but J Crew had one that I liked. I wonder if it's formal enough...http://www.jcrew.com/womens_special_sizes/petite/dresses/PRDOVR~21848/99101909831/ENE~1+2+3+22+4294967294+20~15~~0~15~all~mode+matchallany~~~~~white+++dress/21848.jsp
No luck with either one, sadly. =( Either too expensive or are too short/tight/overall modern-looking. Thanks for the suggestions, though!
Ick, Target had nothing. =/ I'd like to keep the prices under $70 if possible, since we're all students...

All of these dresses come in black, white, or off white. Hopefully this will help you out. They are pretty decent prices too.
@MrsMckaytoBE: I was looking at that site, but to be honest, sites like that make me a little bit nervous. I'd hate for them to order a dress and have it not fit, be the wrong color or poorly made, etc.
How about Dillard's or Sear's..some kind of department stores. I just bought a dress similar to that but it was in black. Idk which store it was though. Oohhh maybe Kohls.
I checked Sears, but they don't have a ton...I will check Dillard's and Kohl's, though. :)
This is going to sound nuts, but check out Amazon.com. I know, it sounds crazy. But they have a bunch of dresses up there and the reviews are good.
Have you tried Lulus.com or shopruche.com?
Another option- what about finding someone who can make the dresses for you? That Dessy dress is a fairly easy pattern to find and not too complicated to make either. Maybe search around your area for a dressmaker/seamstress?
Shopruche didn't have anything (but they're adorable and I am bookmarking the site for myself)...Lulus didn't have anything, either (they were a little too trendy). I'm picky, I know. =P I might have look into having a seamstress make them, though one BM lives a few states away so it might be a pain...
what about Whitehouse Black Market? I loooove that store and it's where I get a lot of my more formal dresses. I actually got my white shower dress from there.
@shaydenise: They actually don't seem to have many white dresses, and at $150 a pop I'd probably be better off just going through a regular old bridal store. They do have some nice ones in other colors, though.
Okay, so I figured I'd do a quick search on Amazon. I suck at identifying whether something is 40's/50's/60's, etc, but I think these might fit the theme:
They have a lot more designs if you search for bridesmaid dress and then narrow down to white. I didn't post any strapless ones since the one you showed us wasn't strapless but there are a lot of nice looking ones.

I'm on the hunt for an inexpensive but nice white dress for my two bridesmaids, preferably retro or vintage-inspired (we're going with a 40s theme). I've checked Modcloth (their sizes run terribly small), Dessy (found one I love but it's way expensive for what you get), and David's Bridal (just...yuck).
This is the Dessy one I love: http://www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/d440/?color=snow%20white&colorid=1073
Help, please?
