@jj0313:  well I wouldn’t pay 1500 for a bridesmaid dress but if the bride bought it and told me to wear it I would.

I know my comment will probably not sit well with others but… The quality is definiely NOT there! You are paying for the name! The tulle looks so incredibly cheap (in my opinion) that I can’t believe Vera Wang even put her name on it! You could get a much better quality dress from another designer. My MOH and I stopped in a Davids Bridal just to look around because we were in a shopping complex with a Davids Bridal in it and wow, the quality is not there at all! If you want a Vera, then get a Vera but not without the quality! Hope this helps.

I purchased a blush Vera from Davids Bridal and LOVE IT!!! It is such great quality fabric, quality craftmanship and a great price.  I will admit that my experience with DB wasn’t the best but, I HAD TO HAVE this gown.  When it was finally delivered (about 3 months after I ordered it), it exceeded my hopes and expectations.  Here I am in MY gown.

I’ve looked at DB website before and a lot of the dress are great, but when I saw the vera wang ones I literally said ahhhh what is that?? Dresses are too weird for me. We’re getting the vera wang tuxes which  are great but I haven’t seen a dress by her that didn’t make me cringe, sorry!

I’ve tried white by Vera Wang, here’s what I thought.

The design is spot on and very flattering, which is what you are really paying for. The fabrics are not terrible, but not amazing. However, the construction is noticably cheaper. I found the boning in the dresses quite uncomfortable as the bodices were not that well lined and there were some irritating seams and stuff. The worse was where the bodice ended. If I sat down the boned really dug in, though it was bad when I was standing too. The size fit perfectly too, so it wasn’t that. I thought the same about a lot of the David’s bridal dresses though, nice designs, but lacking in the quality you want in wedding gown. I did by a reception dress from them that was a great price in the sale though. The quality was fine for a second dress just for dancing.

I was comparing it with my Enzoani gown I ended up going with for my wedding, which I felt had excellent quality construction and fabric. The lace was just beautiful and the bodice was very well lined so they boning didn’t poke at all. I paid $1900 for the gently tried on Enzoani as a sample, a new one would have been $2700 ish?

Best thing is to go and try them on and compare to other stuff and see how you feel.

I tried on a few of them and I actually bought one and while the quality is obviously not the same as a $3000 dress, I think it’s worth the $1500. The bodice is not my favorite (althought you can’t see it here cause I’m wearing a lace top over),but I LOVE the skirt.

@jj0313:  fellow anti-davids here. In my opinion there is no comparison between DB, AA etc and designer lines. personally, I would rather buy the real thing second hand than the lower end david’s line. Have you checked any out online? There are many in the $1500ish range.

For example, here is a Vera Wang Ethel for $1300: http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/dresses/view/99022/Vera-Wang-Ethel-Size-10.html

and Gabriella for $1000: http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/dresses/view/67572/Vera-Wang-Gabriela-120311-Size-2.html

Many more where that came from, and you can also check out the classifieds here, oncewed.com and recycledbride.com. Just my 2 cents 🙂

I do believe that the white line at DB is based off the vera line [as in, the patterns], but using the same types of materials that DB dresses are made of. So no, the quality isn’t the same, but you also aren’t paying full price.

I loved db BUT did not like the many Vera’s I tried on. Oleg Cassini was way better
