I have always been drawn to this dress (VW351000) in the White collection, and loved it when I tried it on. I think the more casual style would be a good fit for my my backyard wedding.
But when I went back in for a second try-on, the new Fall collection had arrived, and my sister convinced me to try on the VW351062 .
I really didn’t expect to like it as much as I did! Loved the buttons and the subtle sparkle of the fern pattern, and also how bridey I felt in it. On the other hand, though I could strettttccch and afford it, it’s twice as much as the VW351000, so I have to take that into consideration too! It also would probably change my mental image of my wedding a little bit too…
My concerns with the goddessy, one-shoulder dress are:
1) Maybe not quite as flattering to my figure
2) Tighter/more fitted – will I be comfortable in it on the big day?
3) What sash to would work best with it?
I’m probably driving my mom and my bridesmaids crazy deliberating over this, so I thought maybe you all could share your advice and opinions! Thanks 🙂

they are both beautiful dresses on you….but the 2nd one? wow! it just really highlights your tiny waist, and i love the subtle pattern & sparkle, too. go with what you love, though! they are both gorgeous.

I love the look of the first dress, but honestly, I think it draws attention to your hips, while the second one makes you look so, so tiny!

Try putting up a poll. FWIW, I love the first one but they are both very pretty 🙂

@melindaje: LOVE the first dress! It’s so gorgeous and so flattering!

I like them both in different ways.
Honestly I think the second one is more “backyard wedding” to me since it’s more classic and organic feeling and seems more casual.
#1 definitely has a “look” it’s trying to achieve and it will definitely set a mood.
You could make either of them work for you, but you might have to do more in the way of pulling a theme together so that the grecian dress doesn’t look too much for a casual setting.

@blu77: Great idea! The poll is up 🙂 Thanks to everyone for all the sweet compliments and honest advice! I’ll keep you guys posted on what I decide…

I think you look great in both of them, but I vote the 2nd. I love the pattern and the way it flows!

Gosh, I love them both, but I am in LOVE with the buttons down the back of #2!

I love #2 way more than 1. It looks more bridal to me yet it’s still a simple, more casual dress that would be lovely for the backyard. When I saw #1, my first thought was that it looked like a toga.

They’re both beautiful, but I love the one shoulder dress. I think it will looks so feminine and would be great in a backyard event. The sheer one shoulder looks nice from the front and the back. Also, I think the sweet heart neckline is more flattering than the straight neckline. I think the draping near the hips add to the feminine charm. You could wear your hair to the side w/ a pretty hairpiece too. The price would be a plus!

Trust your feelings – bridey is GOOD! I vote #2 🙂

I personally prefer the second one! I really don’t like the first one, tbh!
Like other posters have said, you look wonderful and tiny in the 2nd dress!

They both look good on you, but I much prefer the second dress. The first one doesn’t really say “backyard wedding” to me – it looks like something you’d wear to a chic evening cocktail reception.

They are both pretty, but I LOVE the second one on you!! I don’t really feel like there is anything super special about the first one, where as the second one makes me say “Wow”. I think the fern pattern and the airyness of the dress still makes it appropriate for a backyard wedding.
