@spezia:  This is the first year in a long time that I’m not going to one. But typically I’ve always tried to buy something semi useful…convenience store gift cards, calendars, lotion, etc. Last year we did one at my job and I got an “as seen on tv” slap chop thing for slicing veggies. And my family always does one after Christmas and I got a stupid dollar store sword and compass set. That was lame lol

I made a homemade fleece blanket for my gift exchange.

My family does one every year. This year I got a fluffy black and white blanket with a yankee candle and a mug with some artisan hot coco. I’m totally down with picking my own gift, lol.

@AnaA:  It’s a gift exchange where everyone buys a gift under a certain price. Then someone writes numbers down on pieces of paper and everyone draws a number. Whoever is number one picks a gift and opens it. Number two now has the option to either steal the gift from the first person, or open another one, and so on and so forth. If your gift gets stolen you get to open another one, but most people don’t allow steal backs. It’s best to go last because you get to pick from everyone’s already opened gifts! Lol

@AnaA:  Yeah it’s a lot of fun, especially in large groups. A lot of people tend to do gag gifts for these type of parties so sometimes you’ll end up with something extremely random. Like when I ended up with a plastic toy set from my uncle last year even though everyone at the party was an adult. Lol

One of my friends has a white elephant party every year!!! I love it, and the crowd that comes is heavily into gag gifts (Korean condoms? Weird mix CDs? Homemade twilight themed light switch covers? all fair game). I went to FI’s work Christmas party, and they had a white elephant, too. We missed the memo, because apparently there is an unspoken rule that everyone brings alcohol or an alcohol related gift set. Next year, we’ll know better!!

FI’s family does it every year. It’s tomorrow and we haven’t gotten anything yet. I think we are going shopping tonight. It’s so funny because there seem to be themes each year. I don’t know if some people cheat and discuss ideas but like half of the presents are all similar everytime!
