I would say a good way of getting what you want would be to post in on EtsyAlchemy. http://www.etsy.com/alchemy/

You can describe what you want and Etsy sellers will bid for the work.

Where are you from?  If you are near a major metropoliton area, I would go to the jewelry district, walk into several jewlerers and describe what you want.  When my finace and I were looking for engagement rings we went to Boston’s diamond district and since many of the places actually do the manufacturing, almost everyone offered to custom design/fabricate a ring.

Here is a link with a number of interesting inlay styles:

I second that a a jeweler who does inlay work should be able to design and make what you want – from a photo or a sketch.  That might be a better way to go – as this website points out, inlaid rings cannot be resized.  So you really want to make sure of the size beforehand, and probably the best way to do that is to have the ring custom made somewhere local rather than ordering it on the internet.  Or at least make sure if you order one that it can be returned for another size if it turns out to be incorrect.

Sigh… I miss PDX.  (Though Seattle is only a stones-throw, it’s a world away.)  🙂

Have you checked out the Saturday Market, and the shops that are brick and mortar around the market?  It’s worth a look, and the craftsmanship is always stellar.
