I would've thought diamond white would have been more crisp. Instead it is a slight shade creamier than regular "white"?! I'm surprised!!
Love Diamond White! My pale Irish skin can't handle the stark white lol.
@mrsbruff2b: That's what I was just thinking!
Either way, fun picture to have!
Ya, you're right. But, in person, you would have NO idea the diamond white wasn't pure white. You can only tell when I stand next to something that is stark white (which is part of the reason why I chose grey linens for the tables ;-) )
Great picture! I always thought "Diamond white" was whiter than 'white'. I chose ivory so now I'm interested to see how ivory compares to diamond white!
@LittleRiver: Oh, it was a blast! It's fun to see someone else in your dress (as long as they aren't wearing it to their wedding!)
@Eight6Eleven: Too bad they didn't have an ivory one there - my mom could've tried it on!
I read on the Maggie Sottero website that Diamond White is "Light Ivory". I would also think the opposite and would image "Diamond" the be most brilliant, stark white, but it's not.
Diamond white all the way! You r blonde n the white will wash u out, the dress looks beautiful on u!! :))
By the way soontobebyrdy, forgot to say thanks for posting these pics!! It is certainly helpful to compare the two side by side and also see how they photograph! :-)
Something to think about - if you have Ivory or Diamond White, you might want to consider Ivory or DW Flower Girl dresses (instead of white)
@SBarchitta: Thanks for saying that :) I appreciate it!
@purple_sofia: You're welcome! :)
wow, I'm also surprised that Diamond white is more ivory. I would have thought it would be whiter than white (if that's possible).
I went for Allure's ivory because I'm blonde-to-strawberry blonde, and I cannot do white.
ETA - thanks for sharing these fun pics!
@Ivorybuttons: I defintiely went with diamond white because of my complexion, I didn't go with ivory just because FI didn't like the idea of it :-/ guys ...
But I LOVE the diamond white :) It's the perfect compromise
My gown was diamond white. I think diamond white is much more elegant looking than stark white. The only thing you need to do is to ensure that all of your accessories will match/coordinate and that none of those things is stark white. I made sure that my bridal purse, veil, ceremony and reception shoes, card cage, guest book, etc. were all diamond white/light ivory instead of stark white. (The one exception is that DH's shirt, vest and bowtie were stark white, but, because they were surrounded by his black tux, they did not clash with my gown.)
@Brielle: Yes, I've been thinking about all of that. My veil is diamond white (yes!!), my shoes are pink!, don't have a purse, linens are grey, guest book is really a guest tree & FI suit is grey with white shirt. Easy to do if you just avoid anything white ;)
This will be very helpful for a lot of bees! My dress is "ivory", but actually looks more like diamond white than white! I thought it would be the other way around. The diamond white definitely looks better on you :)
The diamond white gown looks gorgeous on you! Before I got married, I always thought diamond white was brilliant white like many of you have said. But, it actually makes more sense that it's warmer since most diamonds, unless at the very top of the color scale, have some warmth. I usually explain diamond white to people as the color of teeth.
@eryepye: Ha! (hopefully they have clean teeth!) ;-) I usually describe it as perfectly inbetween white & ivory :)
@soontobebyrdy: Hahaha! I just say that because teeth aren't typically true, brilliant white, but appear white unless compared to true white, just like diamond white.
@mrsbruff2b: Aye, I would have thought the Diamond white would be super bright, crisp white too

I know there are a lot of threads (and bees!) out there who want to see the difference between white and diamond white. Well ... here's a picture! My sister (in white) is on the left, and I (in diamond white) am on the right (Can you believe she's 7 years younger?!).
When I went in to try on the dress I ordered she put on the sample ... it was pretty funny, and super fun.
Here you go!!
And for reference ... this is Allure 8763 :)
