a lot of my friends told me that I have to choose an ivory dress because my skin is very light and a white dress would make me more pale.
Finally I went for a white dress what makes my skin almost brilliant and absolutely not pale. In ivory dresses I look like as white as a ghost.
Why did you choose a white or ivory dress? Was your skin tone a deciding factor or just prefer one of the colors?

I am also SUPER pale and I was suprised how much I enjoyed my skin on one of the white dresses.
that being said, there a MILLION shades of Ivory or Champagne of different levels of warmth. When I tried on my dress in ivory my skin just glowed. I was shocked. It was so much better than the white!
I really depends on what shade of pale you are. my skin has more of a yellow to it, my MOH is also pale, but a pinkish pale. She looks better in the champagne where I’m better in ivory or blush. It’s all about balance.

@BrideinHungary: I had a bunch of people tell me I would need to wear white because ivory would wash me out. They were wrong. I looked a million times better in ivory. Just go with what looks best.

I almost went with a really dark ivory, because i just LOVED the color, but in the end a lighter ivory won out because it had sparkle. Wear what you love!

I didn’t really care – I found my dress and it only came in one color so that was it, haha. It is listed as white, but it is definitely ivory – no question. I’m not shockingly pale, but I am not tan and I think the ivory was a really good choice for me.
Its funny because my DH said that during our first look his first thought was, “she looks gorgeous” and his second thought was, “that dress isn’t white…” haha! I can’t believe he even took notice of that right away.

I liked the way Ivory accented my skin tone more than white. It worked for me!

Wear what you like! I have very dark skin so I thought a bright white would look best, but I fell in love wiht an ivory dress, and it was the right price! So I bought it! I had a few regrets right after the purchase but after alterations and accessories, I”m so happy with my choice.

I’m very fair skinned and I could totally wear a white-white wedding dress. Buy whatever you feel like you look best in!

I always knew I didn’t want a white dress. Firstly I’m a clutz so I knew I’d end up with something down the front within minutes of putting on! Secondly, it just never appealed to me, I generally don’t wear white to begin with so other colours made sense. I ended up with a mocha dress with an ivory lace overlay. It doesn’t look dark but just makes me look all glowy. Plus it sparkles! 🙂

@BrideinHungary: i chose Ivory bc I have an olive complexion, and it went well with my skin. I felt gohstly in white and diamond white lol

I am very pale with pink-toned skin. Bright white is not my friend. My dress was what they call diamond white – it’s not quite ivory, but it’s not bright white. That color looked even better than ivory on me, especially when I had a little color.

I have Morticia Adams skin (honestly) and dark hair, my dress is champagne with an ivory tulle overlay. I could not wear white (and I never wear it in real life), I absolutely hated every white dress I tried on. The champagne (I think) looks really nice, my mother and sister agreed.

I chose ivory just because I don’t like white. I didn’t even try on a white dress, so I have no clue what it actually looks like on.

Encore Bride, and Older Bee
I wore White the first time… and I didn’t want to do anything the same the second time around, so I knew right up front my dress whatever I chose was going to be something other than white (I was also open to colour)
Once upon a time, Etiquette would dictate that an Encore Bride should not wear white, or even a Wedding Dress…
But fortunately times have changed in that regard (lol, everyone gets a do-over now)
So I went from looking for a pretty long gown, to actually Wedding Dress Shopping…
Still tho a Bright White dress at my age just didn’t seem that right on me (I tried… definitely had issues with my older skin / tone)… so I ended up going the Ivory / Champagne route.
Looking back now, I think I would have been sad if I hadn’t worn a Wedding Dress for my big day.
Hope this helps,

@almostmrsj: this. this is exactly why i chose an ivory dress. the other dress i loved was “diamond white”, and looked just as nice as the ivory. i’d probably have chosen diamond white over ivory, but my dress wasn’t offered in any other color than ivory or white.
stark white looked awful on my skin. it was way too cool toned.
