We’ve decided to do an adventure honeymoon…we both love the outdoors! We’re looking at white water rafting in WV and I need some help finding a good place. I want a place that offers rafting, hiking, fishing, all the outdoor stuff. But I also want a place that we can get pampered. I want to do some stuff that we would never do otherwise, like get a couples massage.
I’m thinking something with cabins would be great, maybe a deck with a hot tub. Secluded but close to great amenities. Not sure if my dream is possible or not, but I’m hoping some of you awesome bees have some places in mind for us!
Anybody familiar with wild and wonderful WV?

Hmmm…. I’ve been white water rafting serveral times in WV on the New and Gauley Rivers and it’s such a rush! The outfitter I use is called Songer Whitewater and I love them.
The guides are experienced, competent, very nice and very fun, and will give you whatever kind of ride you like (wild vs tame).
I’ve ever stayed at any of their facilities, but apparently they have some and they look nice. They also guide lots of other adventures though I personally have never used them. My Fiance did go rock climbing with them once and said it was a lot of fun.

It’s not in WV, but Fiance and I are honeymooning in Gatlinburg TN! (not too too far away). They have lots of adventure, hiking, rafting, ziplining, ZORBING!! (check it out!!), plus the town has lots of cool stuff like an Aquarium, Ripley’s museaums, etc. And the cabins are MORE than plentiful! They are all over the place, there are literally thousands I think. Fiance and I are in a secluded cabin with a jacuzzi tub, hotub on the porch next to rocking chairs, a pool table, etc. It’s nice :). I don’t know anything about WV but from my research Gatlinburg is a great honeymoon spot! Real close to Pigeon Forge, TN too, and there’s a whole score of other stuff there (Titanic museaum, etc). I know I’m excited to go there 🙂

Harpers Ferry, WV has rafting and you could stay in town (historic, lots of B&Bs), nearby in Frederick, MD (more metropolitan) or Shepherdstown, WV (more artsy).
The Upper Gauley River is also pretty famous for rafting in WV but its sort of out in the sticks.

@aranel1002: Love, love, love, love Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge! My dad, stepmom & brothers live in eastern KY (where I’m from) and when I would stay with them in the summers, we would all go there for a two week vacation. Their cabins are amazing and there’s so much fun stuff to do, lots of outdoor/adventurey type stuff.
And Dollywood! XD
