I have also thought about Navy Blue and Champagne, Eggpant and Light Gold, or Maroon and Champagne as possible color combinations. I am obviously undecided.
These are the invitations that caused me to fall in love. I love the script, and we would customized the monogram to the same script. This is just a sample from the website.
Oh, if this helps anyone with suggestions, my budget is around 15 to 20,000 for every last thing (dress, favors, makeup artist, EVERYTHING). This is a max for us.
These are some centerpieces I have loved (minus the colors). I really need some guidance; I am trying to do this by myself from all the way across the country!
Personaly, I like the White,Ivory,Champagne and light gold theme. My color scheme is similar(ivory, champagne, brown&burnt orange) The only thing i would suggest is drop the white because alot of times it is very very hard to distinguish between white and ivory. I think that ivory, champange and light gold make a very sweet, sophisticated early fall color scheme. Also, if you wanted some pop of color i think that eggplant would go wonderfully! And I love your invites, very chic
Thank you so much! I am getting married in my small hometown in Michigan, but over the years the people that really matter to me have spread across the country. I just want them to feel comfortable and enjoy themselves, while staying true to my own sensibilities. I would have loved an evening reception, but I can only hope that people have such a good time they stay into the evening! Thanks for the suggestion; I have been thinking about eliminating white all together. What do you think about champagne satin for bridesmaids? May I ask what you are doing SaraBMarried?
@ MilitaryWife- I think champagne satin for the bridesmaids is awesome, very elegant and your bridesmaids will love you because they wont look like '80s prom queen throw-backs,lol. As for the reception, we are actually getting married @ 2 also with our reception at 3/3:30 and i think it's a cool time because then # 1) your guests arent completley warn out from their day and then dragging themselves half-dead to your wedding, at 3 or so, your guests will still have some life in them. # 2) with a mid afternoon reception you and your hubby wont be as tired for the wedding night.
As for what i am doing, i am assuming you mean for my wedding? We are actually getting married on a Thursday afternoon and like i said above our colors are ivory/chocolate/champagne & burnt orange ; our ceremony is at 2 reception at 3 or so and we are having a New England Autumn themed Dessert reception. If you want more details of what im planning feel free to ask ![]()
lol I am letting my bridesmaids pick out their own dresses once I pick a color and material. I am trying very hard not to be a bridezila! haha
I think ivory warmed up with hues of gold could be really pretty! I know September is fall but you shouldn't feel boxed into using autumnal colors just b/c of the season. Plus if you're having the wedding outdoors, the surroundings should provide those extra bursts of color all on their own and fall in Michigan is *so* pretty. I would have had my wedding then (also having a MI hometown wedding) but we figured we'd play it safe with August...summer is the only semi-consistent season in MI =P.
I like it! I think it'll work. I'm also getting married in September, in Ohio. And I don't want to do "fall" colors either.
I am having a white wedding, like you I am getting married outside with beautiful trees everywhere and very green grass. My favorite color is white and I feel with the green backdrop the white will not be stark. Plus I think white in its simplicity is so modern and chic!
For example, I will have crisp white linens (both napkins & tablecloths) no overlays b/c it takes away from the simple modern look I want. I am using all white flowers (carnations to be exact b/c my budget is so tight) white candles, simple white cupcakes on a white fabric covered stand, white wooden chairs, and white paper lanterns. I am actually putting my bridesmaids in grass green because green is my accent color (taking the fact that I'm outside), for example our invitations, programs, and escort cards will be clean and white but our design we will print on them will be green. Also, the stems from our flowers are green (of course); so those will pretty much be our slight touches of green to tie everything together.
Here are just a few of my insipration pics of my BM dresses & my centerpeices (of course minus the black) and invitation style which will be white with a little green
A ivory/white/champagne/light gold theme is perfect for any season, any space. That's what makes it so wonderful. This one is an outside wedding...
I'm so happy you are doing this color scheme! I am too, and I LOVE it! My wedding is August 1, and I think it is funny you ask if it is appropriate for fall, because I was told by a few people it's a "winter" color scheme...but I completely disagree and believe that it can work anytime of the year. I guess we are doing touches of coral in the flowers to make it a little more "summery." But I agree with you...i fell in love with the elegance of the combination.
I am having my bridesmaids wear a light gold satin dress, and the men are wearing black tuxes with gold vests and ties. I am so excited! When I started planning, I was set on pink dresses, but after a while, it was a little much for me and I settled on the simple, angelic champagne colored bm dress.
This is the one they are wearing in 'palamino': http://www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/2749/#FabricList=3&LineList=4&catid=1&displaytype=GridMedium&activePage=1&rpp=9&SortOrder=BridesmaidLineDefault
Yay! I'm so excited for you! I say GO FOR IT!!
Also, since I have done my fair share of research for gold dresses, I fell in love with the palamino color in the stretch charemeuse dresses by Dessy. Oh, they were GORGEOUS!! Unfortunately, the dress we chose only came in Matte Satin, which isn't as flowy and shiny so the palamino color looks a little different...but it will still do. You should definitely check it out.
I am attaching a picture I found on theknot that I loved of gold bms dresses.
I think in this day and age anything goes anytime!
I think if I had someone comment negatively they probably wouldn’t be invited in the first place.
Personally I think it looks elegant and sophisticated.
@charmedbride -- Tell me about it!
MI weather is crazy. I have to be prepared for anything/everything!
@AnnieAAA -- Thank you so much for sharing your inspiration pics! It looks like you are going to have a beautiful wedding.
@Vixie13 -- That picture is gorgeous! I wish I could afford centerpieces like that!
@tessabella76 -- So you know exactly what I am going through with not wanting "fall" colors in a place where it will actually be fall! ![]()
@Miss Sparkle -- Thanks so much for the bridesmaid dress information! They are beautiful!
I think that particular color combo is pretty timeless and classic
I just wanted to thank everyone so much for thier imput. =) Even though it was not in the running when I created this poll, I have decided to add some green into the ivory/champagne theme, since there will be green everywhere outside anyway! With all the flower stems, green grass, and green leaves, I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner! I have decided to go with an "elegant" garden party theme; I think loose garden inspired centerpieces with in season flowers and some trees inside the tent will give me just the look I love. Thanks again everyone! If anyone knows where I can find further inspiration for this kind of wedding, please, please point me in the right direction =)
Here are a couple more inspiration pictures! There will be alot more DIY aspects at my wedding (my caterer is growing flowers for the centerpieces, my parents live in the woods and can cut down trees for the tent, etc.)

I cannot figure out my wedding colors. I am constantly drawn back to ivory/white/champagne/light gold theme. I am getting married in September, in Michigan (around 60-70, hopefully higher). I am holding the reception outside in beautiful gardens at an old train station (that has been converted into a very nice house/bed and breakfast). I have a tent, and even though I am working on a budget, I am planning on a sit down dinner for about 100 people. The wedding is 2-3 p.m. and we are planning on having the reception start around 3:30. Is this a good idea? Will everyone be gone by 7? We can't have the wedding ANY later if we want to get married in our church (which we do). I really love the white on metallic theme, but is this a bad idea for early fall (indian summer)? I HATE fall colors (red, orange, yellow, brown), and I want the event to be really elegant and sophisticated. Any imput would be appreciated; I have been going crazy for almost a year trying to figure this out!!
