I’ve been doing some at home whitening with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda, but I’m ready to take the jump onto spending a little bit more money for results.
I drank soda for a really long time, so my teeth show a bit of evidence of that. I won’t pay the hundreds of dollars for the dentist to bleach my teeth, but I’ve been looking into products that you can find at Walmart and such.
Does anyone have any first-hand experience with any of the products? What would you recommend?
Bonus points for pictures!

I had a great deal of success with Crest line of toothpaste ‘Whitening Expressions’… however it was a few years ago and I don’t even know if they still make it >_<
I’ve heard that just plain baking soda works WONDERS (though.. I’ve never tried it and is supposedly tastes .. less than tastey)

I use the Crest Vivid White toothpaste (I think it’s called “3D white” now) and I’ve had pretty amazing results with it, but I’ve always used it so I don’t really have any before-after experience. I just know my teeth are very white 😀 I’ve also used the crest whitestrips before, and wow do they work! I would reccomend them if you need to whiten in a short amount of time (I use the “classic” ones that take 2 weeks). They make your teeth kind of sensitive, so beware of that, but they sure do work!
ETA: I had a hard time with the tooth sensitivity, and that’s why I did the “classic” line of the whitestrips. It is more gradual than the newer fancy ones they have that only take 5 days or however long. I’m sure those work too, but if you have a sensitivity problem, go with the classic. They’ll still cause some sensitivity, but not nearly as bad as the “super fast” stuff.

@Cecilia_Noelle: Yeah I’ve been doing the baking soda thing, but it just KILLS your enamel. I know whitening in general isn’t good for your teeth, but it doesn’t work quickly and I’m impatient =/

I had luck years back with just good ol’ Crest Whitestrips. They irritated my gums just a little during and immediately after use, but they worked! And Crest usually has coupons or rebates for that stuff on their website.

@LilliePad: I’d heard great things about the whitestrips with the 3D white toothpaste, I may have to try it! Thank you!

Whitening works best right after a dentist appointment, so I’d recommend getting a cleaning for best results.
I tried Crest White Strips, but they made little impact on my teeth. They’re annoying to wear and the strips slip off in certain areas so the results are not uniform. The strips are also only long enough for your first few teeth.
I’m now using the Colgate Optic White Regimen, which seems to be working well. I’ve only been at it for a few days, but I’m noticing a bit of a difference, and the whole thing (toothbrush, toothpaste, and mouthwash) is only $9!

@PacificMrs: Oh, and this isn’t really a product, but when you drink anything that isn’t clear, drink through a straw! It bypasses your teeth so you can drink whatever you want without it yelowing your teeth. I always drink out of a straw, so that might contribute to my success.

The Rembrant trays (Orange and white box) are amazing and easy to use. (about $30)

i’ve used a few things that were great. arm & hammer advanced white, listerine whitening formula, and crest whitestrips are all awesome. i am a huge coffee addict, and they all cut through and prevent stains wonderfully.

Whitestrips!! No need to hit the dentist. I have used Whitestrips since they came out. I only touch up once or twice a year. People always compliment my teeth and my teeth are actually whiter than friends who have gotten professional whitening done. Trust me. It will work!

I’m with the whitestrips too. I did it before the wedding (like three weeks before) and it worked perfectly. I am a huge coffee drinker so it made a huge difference for me, I would recommend!!

I also used Crest whitestrips (Professional Effects) for 21 days leading up to the wedding. My teeth were noticeably whiter in pics! I would use them again.

I quit drinking soda for 4 wks now! I am using Colgate Optic white toothpaste and wow! I’ve noticed a huge difference and so has my FI with my teeth. It tastes like whitening strips guessing the peroxide. It’s not the best taste but gets the job done. I’ve used it for a week now. They say 4 wks for best results. So far so good! I’ve also used the Rembrandt 2 hr system and it was ok.
1st before. Like in Feb. 2nd one yesterday
sorry they are sideways :/ but I did notice my hair is growing in these pics too! Yay! Lol
