@zippylef: It is very sad, too young! I love that song, it is my fav of hers!
It's so sad at such a young age and she was so talented. She'll be missed.
I always felt so sorry for how her life was going and her passing I am sure will start some really tough conversations in our house with the step sons mom passing in a similar way. I feel for her kids, I know the pain first hand that they are going to go through. I actually feel for her ex also, I also understand the pain and guilt that he will go through. What a very sad situation for the survivors, just so sad.
@tksjewelry: I'm curious what the cause of death will end up being. They haven't released any details yet. I mean, I have my suspicions but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt for now. My MIL will be dead 2 years the first week of April. Her circumstances were similar (accidental OD).
@zippylef: I am curious also. OD or the stress on the body from all the previous usage, really IMO is all the same. There was talk on the news shows last night that she has also been addicted to prescription drugs, and to be honest, brutally honest, I hope that between her and Jackson, that the States start to take action on prescription drug addiction. It is the one epidemic that you rarely hear about, but it kills more people (especially women) in the US then all the top 10 illnesses combined.
@tksjewelry: Agreed. I worked with a girl who was a former meth addict and was abusing prescription drugs. I definitely agree that it's a less public drug addiction problem but it's very real. My MIL ODed on painkillers. :(
I was stunned when I saw this last night.. (I was going to start a thread too, but figured SOMEONE must have one up already) I created a pandora station in honor of her. I was never even a big Whitney Houston fan, but I feel like she is a classic. She is someone who will NEVER be forgotten in music and always be aspired to. I think it's so sad..
@zippylef: Hmm not sure... one news article I read last night said she had just been on the phone with her mother 30 minutes before her death and everything had been normal/fine. I am anxious to find out cause of death though too. Another article said they found her in the bath tub? Not sure if she was clothed or whether there was water in it or not?
Its quite possible that it was not an OD but a heart attack due to all the damage she's done to her body over the years.
Such a shame though - and she and Bobby Brown have a daughter together... hope she's strong enough to not get dragged down by her parents demons.
My ex boyfriend is a roadie who often tours with bands and sets up the stage, microphones, whatever else they need. He worked with Whitney Houston back in the 90's when she was at the height of her popularity. He said she used to come backstage after shows high as a kite singing "Who has my moneeeeey I'm not leaving 'til you pay me my moneeeeey..."
She had such an amazing voice, but those demons will kill you. I remember when she had that reality show with Bobby Brown and everyone thought it was so funny, like they thought the Anna Nicole Show was funny. But it just made me sad. She always seemed so regal to me when she was put together and singing her heart out. It's just such a waste. She had every resource in the world available to get well and I see all those recent pics of her drenched in sweat and disoriented, it's so sad.

This is so sad. Despite her personal issues, she was definitely a diva in her own right and it's sad to see her go so young. Wow.
2012 is showing a sad trend so far. First Etta James, now Whitney Houston. :(
I'm sitting here listening to "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" in memory.
