@tayy17:  hi tayy, I have not got married there but we have been for a holiday. It was a magnificent holiday that we will remember for a lifetime but yes, it was VERY expensive! We did a 3 day cruise with snorkelling and diving. We stayed at Airlie beach but if we ever got the chance to go back I would go to one of the islands. When we were there we also hired a car and drove to Dingo Beach which was beautiful

Hey! Yes, I moved to Australia a few months ago from the U.S and spent my Birthday there this year. Everything is expensive here so you just have to accept it and try not to hyperventilate when buying things.  We went snorkeling/diving.

I’m not getting married there/been to a wedding…but ahhhh the Whitsundays!  I challenge anyone to show me a more beautiful place in the world!

On topic: if it’s your dream wedding then I say go for it.  It’s your wedding day, not your guests!

as one of the lucky ones who gets to live in the whitsundays, i can assure you, the many weddings ive seen on the islands and the mainland are stunning! They aren’t a bad price, however do your research especially if your looking at the islands, e.g Hamiltion, Daydream etc, there are some downsides 🙁

my alltime favourite for the whitsundays is Villa Botanica, its pricey but omg, so luxurious! and EVERYTHING is covered! so bloody amazing.

@tayy17:  Daydream is beautiful but I have heard horror stories of weddings on the Islands (eg. bridal parties waiting in the car 500m away waiting for the previous wedding to finish!) However it is a beautiful place and has gone under a massive overhaul so this probably wont even happen anymore!

I almost booked our wedding in the Whitsundays at Villa Botanica, it looked amazing however one staff member in particular really rubbed me the wrong way and for the amount it was going to cost (approx $20,000 for ceremony and then an extra $15,000 if we were holding the reception there as well) I just didn’t think it was worth it to be dealing with a rude staff member.

All of the weddings I have seen in the whitsundays have all been amazing though, but as others have mentioned stay away from the islands as they get a lot more expensive there. If you hold your wedding in one of the hotel grounds it can be much more affordable.

I have been to 3 weddings on Hamilton Island.

They all had very different budgets and they were all amazing.

I love Hamilton Island and really recommend it.

These were the best weddings I have been to.

FI proposed on Hamilton Island, and yes, it is expensive to go there, BUT it is completely amazing. I can nearly guarantee that nobody will be bored. There are beautiful beaches, lovely shops, day cruises, great resteraunts (rimanos was divine!), a fauna park, a gym, golf, tennis and mini golf courses, water sports, motorbike riding, hiking trails (FI proposed at resort lookout, I think), the weather is beautiful (we went in may, it was still warm enough for me to sit on the balcony at night in a singlet) there are lovely pools (if you do go to hamilton island, go to the place with a swim up bar (it’s opposite the video store) and order a ‘mud baby’. BEST DRINK EVER!)

Honestly, it’s so beautiful there, and there is SO much to do.

OMG I was soo close to doint this. my sister lives in sydney and we visited her for a moth a few years ago. i went to daydream island and fell in love with it! you can walk around the island in 20 mins. its so tiny. you get a large boat from hamilton for 1 hour. its a lovely trip enjoying the veiws. there is a place called lovers cove which is where you can see the sun set. and it has a little glass chapel on the islad just back from the beach if you dont want it over looking the sea outshide. its the most amazing place i have ever seen.

I had a few worries about family being dissapointed if i went as there would have only been 6 of us.

How ever if i went back and started from the beginning again i would do this without a doubt.

daydream island.com

I think i looked at it costing us 7000 pounds.

@tayy17:  My sister is a wedding coordinator at Daydream Island so if you have any particular questions, I’d be happy to find out some info for you. I don’t know much about weddings on the island but I’ve seen some beautiful pictures.
