So in addition to reading along with all the current bees, I've been gradually working my way through the stories of some past bees.. Some of my favorites have been Mrs. Hot Cocoa (I loved reading about her conversion process and planning a Jewish wedding), Mrs. Gloss (love, love, LOVE her invitations!), Mrs. Cupcake (so much design-y goodness), Mrs. Apple Cider (love all the DIY), Mrs. Meatball (love her wedding video and how FUN her wedding looked), and Mrs. Cowboy Boot (love everything about her!!).
Make us all some recommendations.. Who are your favorites and why?
I love Espresso cuz she seems so down-to-earth. I also think Perfume is uber glamorous. Dumpling's and Meatball's posts are so spunky. And Powder Puff is hilarious. Oh and I also love Sushi cuz she's another down-to-earth lady. Pudding's posts are always interesting. And of course, the very stylish Flamingo :)
Espresso's wedding looked so fun also!! Haven't read any of those others yet.. I'll have to get on that!
Mrs. Cherry Pie's wedding had to be just about the prettiest thing ever! Not to mention that I loved how picture heavy & intersting her recaps were. Just lovely!
Oh yes, love Cherry Pie too.. Totally wishing for Mexican Coke at my reception like her!
Miss Scissors makes me laugh so hard. I love seeing her posts come up on my Google Reader. She's so no-holds-barred, honest, sarcastic, swear your face off, fun and real, I love it. I think we'd get along really well if we ever met. Or try to kill each other. I'm not sure... LOL!
Aww fun post. There are some bees whose posts I really enjoy reading because of their writing style, but the two that have been most inspiring to me have been Mrs. Cowboy Boot, and even more so, Mrs. Cherry Pie. I'm going for a similar rustic-elegant look, and reading her posts really helped me clarify the look I'd been bouncing around in my mind, but couldn't quite visualize.
I found my venue through Mrs. Stiletto's posts so I've paid extra attention to her posts. I even sent her recaps to family to show them what the venue looks like!
I have to admit that I haven't read the blog in a long time but I loved Hot Cocoa, Cowboy Boot, Dumpling, Meatball, and Gloss!
The more I read, the more I *puffyheartwithglittah* all Bees!
Currently, I adore Miss Pug (you had me at *train*), Miss PChips (could you be any wittier?), Mrs Champagne (could you be any prettier - you remind me so much of my mom . . .I hope that came out right), and Mrs SeaBreeze (you are just adorable!).
But that is just the tip of the iceberg - the more I read, the more I love the Bees.
MrBee, I *puffyheart* you too - and your great, well-reasoned advice.
I don't really want to say who my current favorite bees are because I know if I were a bee I'd be all anxious if I wasn't someone's favorite. (Ah, anxiety!) But the bees of yore who got me hooked were Cupcake and Flamingo.
Oh, and I would also like to say that I am personally and politically very excited that Miss Stripes is a bee!
And that I'm going to die if Meatball doesn't get cooking soon on her recaps!
Wow...this list got to be crazy long, so I've put a few favorites as my "recomended reading" up front. But there are soooo many great bees out there. The beauty of the 'Bee is that there's someone for everyone to identify with!
Top Recommendations
- Love Bug - This should be required reading for all Weddingbee-ers.
- Mrs. Cherry Pie - Probably my all time fav. We have a lot in common and her wedding would pretty much be along the lines of what my wedding would be if money were not a concern.
- Mrs. Avocado - Girl just knows how to writing interesting posts. Plus I learned a LOT from her regarding her
- Mrs. Lemon - AMAZING creative DIY plus such a dreamy wedding.mormon religion which I found totally fascinating.
- Mrs. Cheese - My favorite posts are the ones that are about marriage and relationships and the meaning of it all, not those about "weddings." Cheese was the MASTER for this. Her honesty made everything she wrote so engaging.

And more....
- Miss. Stripes - so stylish and hilarious.
- Mrs. Penguin (yes, from back when she was just a regular bee!) - She was the first post I ever read and she sucked me right in! Lots of fun DIY from the days before I'd heard of a Gocco.
- Miss Scissors - This lady is hilarious and of course I remember her from her board days which gives me a stronger connection. Plus she really writes posts that are interesting for an audience and here design stuff is so gorgeous.
- Hot Cocoa - She's just so sassy and there's something about her relationship with the Mr that draws me in. I just love their story.
- Green Tea - Soooo funny, a really different attitude, and UNBELIEVABLE DIY. I used her tutorial to make my own vanilla and it's so awesome!
- Mary Jane - Yay for a proud courthouse wedding and a short dress!
- Tiramisu - oh my god, this woman is a picture of grounded and graceful! She's what I think every brides aspires to be.
- P. Chips - just has a great writing style and writes interesting posts.
- Sea Breeze - I especially liked her recaps (and I usually don't care for recaps). You just want to be buddies with this girl.
- Champagne - there's something about Champagne that will make you envious. I think it's the fact that she's a doctor who looks like Malibu Barbie (and her Mr looks like a Ken doll too) and seems to be the sweetest lady around. You'll just want to be her.
I could go on! I don't read the blog as much now so most of my recommendations are a couple of years old. There are so many other bees that I love but this is just getting silly!
Miss Stripes, Miss Vegie, and Miss Scissors...
But every blog is fantastic, Im actually reading more blogs now than posting on the boards.. Im in an ideasworld and they inspire creativity!
Ooh! I'll play this one!
I loved Mrs Cheese. I think she is probably one of the only bees who I have gone through and read every post of. I don't even know what it was about her that I loved so much, maybe just the refreshing, hardcore openness and honesty. I want her to come back and share some more wisdom from marriage-land.
I love all the recently married bees who have put so much effort into their recaps: Star, Swan, Sprinkle, Piglet, Mouse, Gloss... probably others... eep I'm sorry to those I've forgotten!
I love reading Mrs Pug's posts, she is the funniest, and like a few of you have said PChipz is a great writer and very engaging to read.
I am inspired (and sometimes disheartened) by the amazingness of Sewing, Poodle and ... Cola (I think).
I also like Miss Hamster, for no particular reason that I can think of, and Miss Pencils for her amazingly awesome facial expressions.
I have only been reading for around 4-5 months or so, so I am now working my way back through the older bees and will probably find some more favourites.
Shout out to Green Tea! That's how I found the 'Bee. I came across one of her posts totally randomly googling for something else and she got me completely addicted. I also love Mrs. Cherry Pie because she got married in Montana, my home state. I don't live there anymore but I would love to get married there and have a wedding as totally gorgeous as hers!
To be honestly I kind of suck about keeping up with blog posts and I haven't gone back to read any of the old posts...... if I ever get a free week I'll get on that :)
I tend to pay the most attention to bees that i have some kind of connection with though. I love reading Mrs. Bunny bc she's from Columbus too. Miss Spaniel is a law student (and omg I can't wait for her to come back and tell us about her wedding!). I also always watch out for Miss Poodle and Miss Sewing because I love sewing and am not nearly ballsy enough to make my own dress. I cannot WAIT to see how their dresses turn out and I'm so very impressed that they're doing them on their own!
Hmm, of the current bees I especially love Pencils, Scissors, Hamster and Pug.But that's just the first that sprung to my mind - really, I love reading the blog in general! The first months I didn't do anything but follow the blog regularly - it took me a long time to check out the rest of the site! One bee that really stands out to me is Tiramisu. The way she handled her weddingday is something that I think every bride should remember.
It's too hard to choose. I found Wedding Bee through a link to a CHerry Pie post. I think the link was on the Knot.
I was always a big fan of meatball, mouse and mary jane. Those were the bees I would get excited to read.
Ditto on Lovebug! REQUIRED reading on here. So witty, with a wedding full of personal touches, and the way she tells their story, you feel like you're right there and it reminds you of what all this planning is about. :)
Others that have really resonated with me - Cheese, Meatball, Cherry Pie. Haven't been keeping up with the new bees...
Were any of the previous bees like Miss Veggie or Miss Stripes? I'm in love with both of their styles and would love to read about previous bees with similar styles and ideas.
I have a special place in my blogging-heart for the Bees that were writing when I started reading: Mrs. French Bulldog, Mrs. Bunny, Mrs. Cheese, Mrs. Cowboy Boots, Mrs. Mouse, Mrs. Star, Mrs. Peeptoe, Mrs. Gloss and Mrs. Mascara.
I would talk about these ladies with my FI like they were my friends!
I ALWAY make sure I read Miss Cola (DIY GENIOUS!) and Miss Hampster (I wish I was as glam as her) posts.
@Pohget and @Champagne Wishes - you ladies just made my day!
I always love reading meatball, cowboy boot, and duckling. But I love all the bees :)
Poodle - I heart her DIY stuff. So amazing!
Scissors - I love her design style and mad photography skills
Stripes - Super stylish!
I don't really have a favorite bee, especially the 'retired' ones. Honestly, there aren't any bee's that I follow religiously, Ijust kind of look at recent blog posts when I sign on. I tend to like the posts that are funny though, and I know this is going against the grain but I skip all the DIY posts as I am NOT a DIY person in any regard and just can't relate. When I'm looking at a particular Bee's archives, I always just skip to the dress post (I think it's so mean when they post pix of models in thier dress instead of themselves! ;)
I love all the Bee's and my favorites change. Right now I'm totally and completely LOVING Mrs. Swan. I love her, her wedding, all of it!
I agree that Mrs. Love Bug was 1000% awesomeness. When I first started reading the Bee the dessert generation was just swinging into action so of course I always have a soft spot for those ladies!
I honest-to-goodness could never pick a favorite, because I really love them all and they're all so different (which is fabulous)!
But, some of the "finished product" weddings that I've really connected with are Mrs. Espresso, Mrs. SeaBreeze, Mrs. Meatball, Mrs. Apple Cider, Mrs. Cowboy Boot, Mrs. Glitter, and Mrs. Stiletto!
I have been having so much fun "bonding" with all the Bees because it honestly feels like they are SUCH a great group of ladies - they have so much to offer and are so talented and original! I feel blessed to have found a community that's "lead" by such an incredible lineage of Bees! (I still need to go back and read some of the Bees' blogs that came before I got introduce to WB).
I also loved how personal Mrs. Star's ceremony was! And her must-take photos! For a gal from NYC, she hit the nail on the head!
AmberEyes, kirabee, and Miss Chicken Wing- thanks for making me feel so special!! :)
I first found Weddingbee through Mrs. Lovebug's posts! And then I just couldn't. stop. reading. :)
Alright, per all these suggestions I have since read Dumpling, Lovebug and Green Tea. And I agree that Dumpling is hilarious, Lovebug should be required reading for every bee (her ceremony seemed so unique and special, full of love and joy!), and Green Tea's DIYness is amazing! I loved the shower she planned for her MOH!
I shall continue to work my way through these suggestions.. Anyone have any more? : )
I love all of them! I feel like Miss Starfish and her sister's relationship is similar to mine with my sister, so that's kinda fun to read about. And of course, I love Miss Dolphin because she's a Gator :)
I absolutely LOVED Sea Breeze and Cherry Pie's weddings. As far as writing style/personality/candidness/honesty, I loved Mrs. Cheese. I miss her grounding, realistic posts that really made me think about love, life, relationships, etc. As far as current bees go, I love posts by Stripes and Parfait!
Yay, Corgi! ;)
I am still waiting for Mrs. Bruschetta's recaps! I have a lot of favorite Bees, but I got into her posts particularly when I started reading the 'Bee in the first place.
I'm not really a blog reader, but I do read Scissors and Sewing as I often posted on the same boards with them before they were bees. I also read Veggie's posts as I'm also an expat bride.
I also found Dumpling and Avocado's post-WB blogs and started reading them, so I went back and read all of their posts as a result of feeling a greater connection with them.
