We used Melissa also for our cake. She is so sweet and the cake was yummy but ended up being a bit more then we wanted to pay. So we did a smaller cake and 2 sheet cakes. She was great to work with.
Venue: Thunder Island & Gorge Pavilion in Cascade Locks, OR (operated by Portland Spirit)
Food/Bar: Portland Spirit
Photography: Alyssa Jul Photography
Videography: Bigler Productions
Photobooth: Fliptography
Cake: Cake by Taste of Honey
DJ: Mobile Music Entertainment
Floral: Bloomsbury
Vistagirl - I highly recommend Bonnie at Bloomsbury. She's located in Stevenson, WA and does a lot of the flowers I book for the brides I work with. PM me if you want her info. I can give you recommendations for any other vendor you might need in the Gorge.
mthomps2- what flavors did melissa make for you? I was really happy with how friendly she was at the meeting and her cake tasted amazing! It came down to her and Ja'Civa's but they were out of our price range!
Anyone know a good cheap DJ?
A friend of ours used Sound Choice and really liked them so I'm going to price them out also.
hmm I think I just emailed them! Also check out this post for portland- Outrageous!

Venue/Catering: The View Point Inn
Photographer: Tyler Gould Media
Band: Echo Jazz Trio (Followed by iPod playlist)
Cake: Wrightberry Wedding Cakes (my favorite out of all the cake vendors at the PDX Bridal Show in January)
My FMIL used to be a florist, so she's thankfully doing our flowers.
VintageDivine- we are almost neighbors! I liked the Viewpoint inn a lot- we thought of using them for our ceremony (reception at vista house) Yay! I love the gorge!
I do too, I'm only hoping the winds don't pick up! I keep having this mental image of a big gust of wind blowing my veil right off and over the cliff in the middle of the ceremony, lol.
I was thinking about doing the ceremony in a tent outside of vista house and I totally had the same vision of the whole thing blowing into the gorge! How are you doing your hair to keep it in place?
I'll probably do loose curls gathered at the nape of my neck into some sort of low 'do, and then putting the comb in over my curls. I have pretty thick hair, so a few extra bobbies should keep it from taking off. The long range forecast I've checked has us at 78 degrees with clear skies and a slight breeze on our wedding day, so I don't think it'll be an issue. I'm SO HAPPY the weather looks like it's going to be gorgeous!
The Vista House is beautiful, I didn't even know they did weddings there! Are you having your ceremony inside or outside? I've never been, but we might drive up on our wedding day to take some pictures there.
Have you checked out Wedding Wire? There are some good reviews on their for vendors.
We are interviewing photographers and videographers this month and next month - I found a couple who's prices are very reasonable (she does photography and he does videography). His videography website kind of stinks but her photography website is kind of great. We're meeting them this weekend so we'll see how it goes.
I've had the opposite experience - the website sucks but then the person is kind of lame. I really believe in "clicking" with the people you want to hire.
these are my big sister's vendors:

the ones i am looking at are :
cake:
the sweetness, 4th generation bakers, their stuff is delicious, their prices are pretty amazing as well, thinking about doing small treats and then a small cake for the man and i to cut, she does a free replica cake for your first anniversary. for a big cake, pricing is about $3 a head, and they tend to make a cake about 25 servings over, for individual treats, pricing is about $1.50-$2.50 per treat, and Kay takes into consideration seasonal fruits

flowers:
a friend's ma does flowers, so we are considering them, but not sure
so that's my input, please, please, please, more people contribute!!!
There's a couple of sites for everyone to look into:
There are associations I belong to through my work and they have tons of links to any vendor you need. I do wedding planning for a local venue and would be happy to give any SW Washington or Oregon brides references for clients that have booked with us.
Hi ladies!
I just found out about an awesome photographer in the portland area!
We are using BarryBrownphotography from portland. He and his wife Lisa are amazing. They are so good we are flying them to Michigan to do our Daughers wedding. He is new to Portland but was an award winning Denver photographer before moving to Portland with his wife. Check out his site. I really think no one's better.
Here are our amazing Portland vendors:
Location, which includes catering and alcohol: The University Club
Cake: His Bakery
DJ: Chad Dowling Productions
Photography: Ray Hendricks
Makeup and Hair: Nicole Wagner
Flowers: My mother, who used to be a florist :)
I have some pretty amazing vendors! I used to be a wedding planner, so I have a lot of good connections, and planning my own wedding has been a lot easier than I expected.
Venue: New Hope Community Church
Photographer: The amazingly talented Benjamin Edwards. www.benjaminimages.com
Florist: Barbara's Flowers in Estacada (she did all of the flowers for our weddings)
Cake: Lamb's Thriftway in Wilsonville. Yes, it's a grocery store, but their cakes taste better than most bakeries, they look great, and their prices are awesome!
Ceremony rock band: Local Portland musicians (My fiance is a musician)
Reception rock band: Ascetic Junkies if they're not on tour (friends of ours, look them up on myspace, they're amazing!)
Food: Simply Delicious Catering (Since we're having a huge wedding, maybe 500 - 700 people, we had to go with Jill - she knows how to do huge events and get people fed fast!)
Hair & Makeup: My friend Kendra at Silhouettes Salon - she's so talented!
Decor: Events Etcetera, my old job :)
I'm really blessed to know so many wonderful people who are talented and want to help with our wedding!
Edit to mine from a while back:
Florist: Kim at Geranium Lakes
My awesome vendors
:
Venue: Family friend's farm in the Columbia River Gorge
Photographer: Blue Door Studio Photography (http://www.bluedoorstudiophotography.com/welcome.html)
Florist: Going to DIY with the BMs...probably from farmer's markets
Cake: Haven't had time to go to Portland to take care of this! ARGH!
Music: DJ Mikey from Dirty
Food: Chameleon Restaurant & Bar (http://www.chameleonpdx.com/)
Hair & Makeup: My BFF/BM is amazing!
Decor: DIY...oh yes, ambitious I am
