We will (God willing) be moving in together and into our new house the weekend before the big day! We are in a unique situation though, because we bought a house at the end of August and completely gutted it…so we have been working on it every weekend & our deadline is the weekend before the wedding. Done or not, we will be moving in. (even if that means without a kitchen and one out of the 2 working baths). We have been in a LDR for the last 4 years and never lived together.

Just do it early. We are in a lot of stress trying to get everything done. In a perfect world, it would have all been done 2 months before, so we can focus on wedding details…. but oh well. Not complaining. At least we got the house and will finally be able to have a home together!

Yes, we are doing this. We put an offer on a short sale house before the wedding. We are still waiting and the wedding has passed. Do it enough in advance more for not having too much on your plate with the wedding.

We moved into our house 14 months before the wedding.  I’m so glad we did and all of the house stuff was done by the time the wedding rolled around.  I couldn’t imagine doing both closer to the wedding… say 6 months or so.  It took me awhile to feel comfortable in our house and feel like it was my own place.  It might just be my personal preference, but I was glad I was settled before the wedding.

@Cheesy Potatoes: Look earlier. We started looking in April. We fell in love with a foreclosure in June and went back and forth until July 3rd (when our offer was accepted) & then it wasn’t until August 24th that we closed. The earlier you look, the better. Sometimes it takes a long time to find what you are looking for, and also just to close! Good Luck, you guys can do it! 🙂

Me and My man, are currently in the ending process of purchasing a house. We will probably be living together for about a year before we get hitched! The house is amazing and I’ve always liked the idea of living with someone before your married because then you can tell what they are really like before hand LOL

We bought out house in March of 2010 and we are getting married in January of 2012 so not just before but we did before.  That is how he could afford the ring because we got that $8000.00 Tax credit for buying a house.

We spent about 4 months looking and we were about to put an offer in on another house and our agent called us and said we needed to look at the  house we ended up buying first before we put in an offer on the other place and we fell in love and put in an offer that same day.

I have done it, and it was a little stressful! But luckily we had a wedding planner to help us with the wedding, otherwise I’m not sure we could have done this without her.

I did most of the unpacking of our home too– be prepared to feel like you’re never going to get anything done.

We moved in to an apartment together 3 months before the wedding.  We had been in a LDR and were relocating to the same city and it didn’t make sense to get separate places for those last 3 months.

Personally – I found it easy.  We were unpacked and settled long before we got into the last minute wedding craziness.

I also was a student during finals— that’s why I felt so pressured, I think. You probably will find it easier.
