She’s probably breast feeding the newborn.  If that’s the case…the two of them are a package deal.

My one year old will be at my wedding BUT I wouldn’t have taken her anywhere at 16 days old, especially a crowded function like a wedding (hello, developing immune system!). Two small children is too much to handle. I don’t know what she’s thinking. Sorry!

I would call the guest and speak to them about the HEALTH issues she could be bringing upon the baby if she takes the baby out that young… A friend of mine did that and her baby ended up being in the hospital because she took her newborn around all these diseased infested places…

AND if there is anyone who could out shine the bride it’s a brand new (cute lol) baby. It’s a little rude IMO. Are you having a kid-free wedding?

im surprised theyre attending with such a new baby. honestly though, most child free weddings make exceptions for breast feeding babies (or have to tell the mother not to attend).

newborns sleep most of the time anyway dont they? i may have made that up, you can tell i dont have children! i think its ok to ask if the baby cries, that the mother take him/her out

I actually like little babies and do not mind them at weddings.  Annoying or naughty or spoiled little toddlers or children = more of a nightmare.

@newname_99:  During the daytime but not in the evening, at least not mine! OP, what time does your wedding start?

Another perspective – I had 15 children at mine this past weekend, 1 of which was 6 months and breast feeding (her mother was busy being a bridesmaid).  NOT ONE CHILD fussed during the ceremony or the reception.

I know 2 babies will be at my wedding – one of my bridesmaids will have a 6 week old, and a personal attendant will have a 8 week old. While ideally the babies wouldn’t be there, I’m not going to tell them not to bring them either. I can see myself getting jeolous though if everyone is gaga over the babies instead of me! And I really hope they don’t cry during the ceremony!!

At the same time I’m excited to see them as I have been so busy with the wedding I haven’t been able to see either!

Most likely you (and I) will be too busy to even notice they are there.

I believe a lot of my friend’s children will be leaving early with their grandparents so the parents/my friends can enjoy the dance floor/some drinks!

@cbee:  Seriously, my biggest fear right now is a bratty 5 year old…they have already developed attitudes. Newborns and infants are persuaded by milk..they are easy.

This is random but we went out to eat on Friday and DH counted 7 babies.  Not a peep!  I never would have known they were in the restaurant.
