Who cooks more, you or your FI/DH/etc? I think I cook more but he says he does (hes lying!) He makes a mean chicken picatta and helps me with other stuff but I cook the majority of the time. Though I do like it, especially finding new recipes.
most definitely my FI! he gets home in time for dinner more often than i do.
im only discovering my inner betty crocker so i have declared that the kitchen is my domain and i have kicked hubby out - he only comes in to make breakfast or get a glass of water these days
Definitely my fiance. He loves to cook. He wants to go to chef/cooking school. I'm thinking about trying to find a local cooking class and give him a gift certificate for his birthday or Christmas.
He definitely cooks more. I had take out or quick meals and I ate out a lot growing up. I never really developed the patience to cook a meal every night or the skills to make delicious dinners. I'm not a bad cook, but he is much better and much more inclined to make dinner.
@tessabella - thatd be a great fun gift for him! I want one too :) There are some places that do couples cooking date nights, you might want to look into that. They teach you alot of recipes, you cook them all and eat together after.
He does! He is a KILLER cook and I love everything he makes! It makes him super proud to be the household chef and to make me so happy by whipping up amazing meals.
me! i love to cook and cook all of our meals. i cook two meals a day and pack our lunches too, we rarely eat out. i don't think the mister could do much more than turn on the rice cooker or oven!!
I cook exclusively... but I love it. Mr. Peng makes all our homemade desserts, however! Because I don't like sweets, if he doesn't make his own cookies, brownies, etc. then no one will!
My husband cooks almost exclusively. I *hate* cooking and am pretty much crap at it. I will occasionally make breakfast on a weekend morning (Fiber One pancake mix is my friend) and I make him dinner on his birthday. That's about it, though. If he's not home, I usually have cereal or peanut butter toast for dinner.
Me, but only because I'm an alpha cook and really bossy in the kitchen.
I cook almost everything. Even if he's home early, I'm scared when he cooks. Before I moved in, the only thing we ate was hot dogs and burgers on the grill. I think he owned 3 pots when I met him. Mostly I cook dinner, and make sure there's enough leftovers for him if I'm going to be late the next night.
we both love to cook! tonight my fi cooked, nights I work late he cooks & the rest of the week i do... and then we cook together on the weekend!
I do all the cooking, I tease that my FI is turning me into a 1950's housewife, but I love it. I tried a new recipe for Shrimp Creole last night and it was AMAZING. It gives me an experiment with new things and he has no choice but to try it.
Mr. Joe can.not.cook. If left up to him, he'd throw whatever he can find in the fridge into a pot of water and make soup, or as he calls it, Ambrosia... That results in some seriously icky things, one of which I will never forget includes hot dogs and salsa... I've tried to ease him into cooking since he gets home from work way before I do, but even with Hamburger Helper he doesn't quite understand the directions ever and so I always end up just doing it lol I think he does it on purpose :p
Mr. Fisher CANNOT cook. I had to take him through how to make an egg sandwich. I loooove cooking for us but sometimes I'd love it if he would bust out the Crockpot and whip something up!
@JoesWifey - my FI can't understand directions either. I do not understand that at all. He'll call me into the kitchen b/c he'll get frustrated and I'll end up "showing" him how to do it which really means that I end up cooking.
We have a deal in our household - I cook everything...he does the dishes. I LOVE it!
We both looooove cooking, but right now Mr. Bru is between school (finished!) and full-time work (starting after the wedding), so he's really sweet and usually has dinner ready for us when I get home from work!
Me! I wish he would cook me a meal once in a while! But it would probably be like 10 random things out of the pantry + a bottle of ketchup if he did...
I used to be the one that cooked all the time for my friends, but when Fi came into my life...he took over!! I love it! i especially love it even more because I'm a pescatarian (no mammals or birds, just seafood) and he's a total steak lover and he'll cook 2 different meals to accomadate me!! Thats LOVE right there!
Definitely me! He rarely ever cooks. He always cleans up, though, so I consider it more than fair :D
We alternate days for the most part. I cook desserts as I'm a pastry chef. He's really good with breakfast, especially waffles, and he's also good at making different kinds of dips.
Yes, I did forget to mention that while Mr. Joe fails entirely at cooking (the pictures of the ingredients at the top of the box completely throws him off for some reason lol) he does do the dishes for me afterwards and never complains :)
Me...almost exclusively. We did try to start an agreement that he'd cook once a week, but he gets home too darn late most of the time. Sometimes I leave the ingredients out with instructions and he cooks (if I've got something toing on in the evening). But he does the dishes so it's okay by me...I loooooove to cook!
Definitely me. I really enjoy cooking and trying new recipes, so I kind of take the reins in the kitchen. If he's home while I'm cooking, he helps, and if I need to work late, he'll make something. He usually cleans up, which I really appreciate - I hate doing dishes!
Me, and I do a lot of it! LOVE to cook and bake! :D Got it from my Dad :) The boy can't cook, well, he tries, and fails, mainly because he's trying to read a book or watch tv at the same time and ALWAYS messes it up. In all fairness though, the other day I said I wanted oatmeal-current cookies and he volunteered to make some (shock!) and they were amazing...but FI has a rule...search tastespotting for a recipe that contains the highest amount of butter and go from there. If the cookies have two sticks of butter, they sure as hell are going to be good, and were, and so bad for you :P
I do! Except in the summer and then he's a grilling machine
I do, bleh, most nights since he works later than I do. I live for the nights when he is home and either cooks (aka grills) for me or takes me out to dinner. It's just not fun after a long day at work to come up with what to eat and baby sit it until it is ready. We try not to go out more than 3 times per week (that includes Sunday breakfast) to save money and not gain too much weight!
He does. I'm not a good cook, being in the kitchen stresses me out. I'm so lucky or else I'd starve!
so far in marriage, I cook way more! He would cook more often, but I feel like it's so awkward when he's in the ktichen and I'm not. I don't know what to do with myself! I love to cook, but it's nice that he's always willing to help out when I'm too tired.
I cook more, but when I am away for work (half the year) he has to fend for himself. Because of this he has a few signature dishes that are delicious(Mushroom Risotto, Fried Rice, Chicken Parm). He has come a long way. When we first met he didnt know how to make mashed potatoes.
for sure, it's me! hahaha. Then again I hog the kitchen, what i do love is that he helps me wash the dishes. that's only fair right?
i am super big on baking, just wish he were a bigger sweets person. =)
Probably me, but Mr Paris likes to cook and will often suggest a dish he would like to make for our weekly menu (yes we are dorks and make a weekly menu /grocery list). He tends to get him later than me so I end up doing most of our weekday cooking, but he helps whenever he can. We also enjoy cooking together on weekends.
I definitely cook more. Sometimes though my FI will surprise me with dinner either being done or being cooked when I come home from work. :)
@Miss Paris. I make a weekly list too!! I don't think I could do it any other way. I would hate to run out to the grocery store after work if we needed something and I can't imagine going to the store and just buying whatever!
I am definately the cook. But I don't mind it since I love to cook.
The husband only cooks if I'm not home and he is hungry and can't wait. His cooking is usually along the lines of heating up leftovers, making eggs, or a sandwich.
If we are grilling, I prepare the food and he likes to do the actual grilling. But this doesn't happen too often.
