I see you posted this 3 months ago and never got any responses. :-(
Did you find a bakery you liked and if so, who did you use? Were you happy? Just looking for some input since I am at the "cake planning" phase now. :-/
Thanks and I hope everything went beautifully!!!
@helenc32: We did find one. We went with Cupcake Crazy. They have 3 different bakeries and we went with the one in Lake Mary because it's the closest to my mom. They were a little more expensive than the other 2 places we looked at, but their cakes are AH-MAZ-ING!! At least according to my mom, we haven't tried it yet since we live in TX, but we're testing on Friday. Here is their website if you want to get some info on them http://cupcakecrazyorlando.com/
Oh cool! And thanks for the info!
I am in Mebourne and trying to find something over here but am curious as to what is around the area. We are only a little over 3 months from our wedding date and I know I need to get things lined up so the cake is on my list of "things to do"! Hopefully the cake tasting will be as "AH-MAZ-ING" as your mom says! ;-)
@helenc32: Haha, her, my dad, and sister all went and got cupcakes a couple weeks ago and I got a text from all 3 saying how good they were within like 3 minutes of each other. lol. And my dad never texts me unless it's big (like "oh sh*t, your mom's birthday is in less than 12 hours, what did she want" big) so I know it's good. lol
Oh, and our venue is in Disney so I know they do travel. And I should totally know this, but there is one in Waterford Lakes if that's any closer to you. lol
Ok...I have no idea how I did not think of this before but cupcakes makes more and more sense!!! We can do the little 2-tier cake with our theme and then do several different flavors of cupcakes with different fillings and frosting flavors! I absolutely LOVE this board!!! lol
So...after weeks of deliberation (procrastination) and two cake tastings that were less than "good" experiences, we finally settled on a "baker" and got both cakes --- the wedding cake and the grooms cake --- for less than what I anticipated. We went with a local place that does Coal Oven Pizza but they also have PHENOMINAL desserts! One of their employees makes everything from scratch and she is AMAZING! We decided that since we are very much a "non-traditional" couple, we would go with a non-traditional wedding cake. Soooo...we are having 2 tiers of cheesecake and the top layer will be carrot cake. All 3 cakes will be crumb-coated to simulate sand and topped with a variety of molded chocolate seashells. Her cheesecake is light and creamy and literally just melts on your tongue. Her carrot cake is moist, delicious and not too sweet...something I am counting on for our "mature" guests. For the grooms cake, I am surprising him. It will be a chocolate fudge cake with peanut butter ganache filling and a peanut butter buttercream frosting. It will also have an edible screen print of his motorcycle on top. He built his bike himself and takes a lot of pride in it...we call it The Beast. If you know anything about bikes, it's a Goldwing frame, Harley motor and various Honda parts. :-)
So yeah...I can't wait to get to reception just so I can try all of the cakes. And yes...I plan on having a small piece of all three!!! :-)

Sorry, there are no users yet.
I was wondering who everyone used for their cake and if they have any pictures. Thanks!
