I went to Ms. Couture - on Clybourne. She was great, quick, talented and not too expensive. I know that there have been a few posts about Chicago seamstresses - I just can't remember them all. Maybe a woman in the 'burbs named Mary? I'm going with Mary Catomy as well! I'm not getting married until September, but I called her right before the holidays just to get on her calendar -- I was paranoid :) I heard such awesome things about her, and the estimate she gave me based on the alterations I need was about half the cost of what the bridal shop was quoting me. I won't be getting my alterations done until after your wedding, so I guess I'm not much help, but just wanted to throw in my two cents :)

Ladies, I am a Chicago newbie and yes we are getting married in 5 months! My wedding budget has been kicked way down because of the move but I have my dress! I am in need of some alterations, thank-god I did not start the process any earlier or it would have had to be shipped! I have read about a few alterations people online like:
