I had no bridesmaids and did my own makeup.

But my wedding was super low-key and small so I didn’t feel the need to go all out on my makeup.

I think getting it professionally done would be a fun girl thing to do with your bridesmaids, though. It can add to the fun experience of dressing up and looking/feeling pretty.

I hired a pro makeup artist to do my wedding day look and she was amazing. She did airbrush foundation, excellent eyeshadow application, and false lashes. I’m fairly experienced with using makeup (have worn it every day for about 11 years) but I am SO glad I hired her. My BMs all did their own makeup.

I did my own.  My BMs either did their own or helped each other.  I’m pretty good with makeup, as are a few of my BMs, so I think we did pretty well for ourselves.  Even though I had a big, formal wedding, I don’t think we missed out on too much by DIYing it.

My hairdresser who Ive had for a few years turns out she also does makeup. We had her come to our cottage and do everyones hair and makeup. Only regret I have was offer a slot to my MIL who ended up making her 45 minutes late and had to rush through mine.

I am experienced with make up but I hired an artist to do my make-up for the wedding day. I didn’t want to be worrying about something not blending properly or the lines being not quite straight due to nerves. I just wanted a worry free day, Make-up and hair I didn’t want to mess with since the pictures are forever 🙂

I am still waiting for the big day, but I have already gone ahead and hired a MUA and three hair stylist (through a local salon) to do hair and make-up for me and all my girls. The girls are paying for their own hair and they can choose whether or not to have their makeup done as well. I can’t afford to pay for everyone’s so it’s up to them whether or not they want to splurge!

My bridesmaids and I are having ours done by someone I hired.

The reasons I chose to hire someone were that I wanted air brushing and we did our own for my MOH’s wedding and it was kind of nerve racking for me, I was worried I was going to mess it up and have to start over, run out of time, screw up the whole schedule LOL.  So this way everyone’s time is scheduled and they get to relax and be pampered 🙂

it was an extra $250 to have hair and makeup done for myself and probably more if I included my two bridesmaids. My mom did my hair, I did my own makeup and my bridesmaids did their own hair and makeup.

I did my own. My photographer said it was really good, better than many pros she’s seen. 🙂 My BMs did their own as well.

I did my own, but I had a makeup lesson, about a week prior, purchased the makeup she used, and practised twice beforehand.

I do hair and makeup for a living and wouldn’t even consider it.  I want it to be gorgeous, and something I don’t mess wth or worry about.

And there will be thousands of dollars spent on photography in part to capture whatwelook like but I’m wanting to save money on makeup?? No.

@axeyourmakeupkit:  I didn’t do it to save money… I would gladly have paid a MUA, but we eloped and arrived at our destination the day before the wedding, so I didnt have the resources  to find someone I knew for sure I could trust, or the time for the usual trial etc… and didnt want to take the risk of booking someone whose style didn’t jive with mine, so the lesson was with someone I know really well. and she spent extra time with me to be sure I could replicate it fairly well.  I didn’t do nearly as good a job as she did, and I’ll be the first to admit that, but it wasn’t about money.

Luckily I have a friend who is an amateur mua (sometimes does freelance mua work but I don’t say pro because it’s not her ft job?).  I hired her for a “friend” fee and thinking about asking her to do my bridesmaids’ as well.

eta. I don’t think it’s rude of you to hire someone for yourself but not your maids… I’m only thinking of it because I only have 2, but hiring someone for 5 other people can get really pricey.  Only consider it if you can stay within your budget.
