I feel like there are all these awesome honeymoon posts (you guys are making me jealous!), but not really all that many for couples who didn’t have a big honeymoon.
DH and I got a whirlpool suite in a nice historic hotel with a great restaurant and stayed there for one night (the night of our reception). It was low-key, and really romantic to be holed up in a pretty hotel room watching the blizzard outside.
If you didn’t really go (or are not planning to go) on a big honeymoon, what did (will) you do?

We didn’t! We was going to get a cabin in TN this summer right outside of dollywood where there are also things like replies aquarium. titanic museum, car museums all that kind of stuff. But we changed our minds, and this summer are getting a cottage in a big nature park. 🙂 Its right outside of a big country club golf course (which hubby & i have a big passion for) and we can go hiking/fishing/swimming in either a pool or lake, or paddle boats. Now instead we are going to go to TN and see the Christmas lights which they have ever year in December for our one year anniversary which is December 11th! 🙂 (we are doing the cottage this summer & Christmas lights this winter) Incase I confused anyone. lol
Edit: Here is some pictures of the cottage! 🙂

We will be staying in a hotel the wedding night. Will be our first time ever staying in a hotel together.
We are planning on going for a couple nights in Tofino, but we won’t know for sure 100% until closer if it will be in the budget.
So maybe nowhere.

@bells: We went back to our little apartment on our wedding night, so I guess we did it bass-ackwards, lol. Now that I think of it, he didn’t carry me over the threshold, either…
Where do you guys want to go?

- Wedding: October 2011 - Bed & Breakfast
We are spending our wedding night at our venue (a B&B), and going home the very next day. The weekend after our wedding we plan to spend 2 nights somewhere within a 3 hour driving radius of our home as our mini-moon. DS is in school and we have no one close by to stay at our house and take care of him while we go on a long honeymoon. Such is life.

We live in Canada where it seems our winters are getting longer. So, instead of leaving our nice summer to go to somewhere hot we are going to wait until January or February when we have already had a million months of winter and we need a break. But the day after our wedding we are taking our out of towners up to the mountains for a couple days. Its always beautiful up there.

We’re doing a B&B for the night of into the morning and then possibly leaving for Vegas for a couple nights Mon-Tues or Tues-Wed. I already will have the time off work for holiday, but FI wont, and will be needing to saveup that time to go on a mini-trip.
We are saving for a bigger picture though: our first home (whether or not that be in CA) and a summer trip to Alaska! =)

i am sure there are lots of people who didn’t go anywhere, just that those people won’t write a post saying “i didn’t go anywhere!” so no need to feel like you are the only one!!! Plus you did do something and it sounds like it was awesome! so actually, it sounds like you did have a honeymoon – just a short, one night one!

Yeah, I don’t think we’re going anywhere. We don’t have the money, we’ll just be out of college at the point. Maybe on our first anniversary? I can hope, right?

I don’t think we’re going anywhere. We don’t have a lot of money and a couple of things make travelling complicated. So we’re probably just going to stay home. Maybe we’ll go on a mini moon somewhere though.. Banff? I dunno.

We aren’t going anywhere. Maybe next year or in winter somewhere warm. For now we are going up north where the family has a cabin and just go jeeping.

We didn’t go anywhere right away. We were very fortunate to have been gifted 2 nights at the local Ritz by my co-workers, so we lived it up there! We did take a belated honeymoon about a year later though.

@.twist.: Believe it or not, Banff is my dream honeymoon location. So unbelievably beautiful!

staycation honeymoon seems more and more common these days! I am taking 3 weeks off around the wedding to prepare and to wind down. it will give us time to not rush so much and be able to enjoy our relatives and friends in town. the fact that I don’t have to work is honeymoon enough for me!
next year, we’ll go to europe.
