Typically, you would tip anyone who is not the owner of the company. We are not going to tip the caterers, even though they will not be the owners, because there is an 18% gratuity factored into our catering charge.

I’ve heard from other posts on here that you only tip the photographer if they are not the owner of the business.  I would think the same thing would apply to the DJ.  I have no idea about the florist.  Sorry.

No. Disregard anything that wedding magazines tell you. You only tip the folks who go above and beyond the call of duty for you, not for simply doing their job or giving you bad/mediocre service. Also, you wait until after the wedding is over to tip anyone. The reason being is that you do not know beforehand what their service will be like on the wedding day. They may be great during the planning and be a complete disaster on the wedding day. Send the tip (you can even send it to a business owner, contrary to belief, if you feel they deserve it) with your thank you notes to your vendors after you come back from your honeymoon and are not still in the “cloud nine” wedding frame of mind.

Oh hell –we didn’t know who to tip, so we tipped just about everyone, except our cake baker (who owned the company) b/c the cake was delivered to the reception before we arrived.

Transportation – included in the price ($100) (he is the owner but it’s included so I can’t do much about this)

Hair & Makeup – 15-20% (one is the owner, one is an assistant, but I dont’ feel right not tipping my stylists)

Photographer & Assistant – $150 (main person is the owner but we will tip if everything is great the day-of)

DJ – 10% (not the owner of his company)

Coordinator at venue – $150

Altar boys/girls – $20 each
