Personally, I prefer to just pick up things I see that are perfect for a friend or family member throughout the year rather than searching for things in December, so I guess I technically started a while ago. I’m actually done 3 people already.
What have you gotten done so far?

I have my SO’s big gift, a little gift for my BFF, and my mom’s gift.
I too like to pick up things for people thorought the year. Come December, I’m usually just buying stocking stuffers and putting the finishing touches on everything!

@canarydiamond: I have SO’s big gift too. He admired my brother’s new gaming monitor. It’s much bigger than his current one and it’s an LCD. But, he would never spend the money on one for himself since he’s saving for a ring, a house, and a wedding. I got an awesome deal, otherwise I couldn’t have bought it, but I’m glad I did and I hope he loves it!
My dad, when he was spending summers at the beach during college ,used to get up before sunrise with his friends and take pictures of the scenery once a year. Unfortunately, Hurricane Irene ruined most of the pictures he’d saved, since our basement flooded, and Hurricane Sandy ruined the pier he loved to photograph. I found a photo canvas company that makes a canvas print of that same pier, and I’m so excited to give it to him.

Last year we said we werent doing gifts… And I knew he was planning on surprising me with diamond earrings, so I surprised him with an iPad!
This year we’re expecting a baby in February… So really: No gifts this year!

I actually just picked up my first gift today! I’ve decided I should just start getting things when I think of them instead of putting it all off until December.

@Laurenplusalex: Whaaaaa……you just about made my heart stop. I just got my mind wrapped around the fact that school started again, and the leaves are falling, and not going to the pool anymore………!!! 🙂

@Laurenplusalex: Nice gifts! I think they’ll go over well 🙂 I too try to get thoughtful ones.
My SO is getting a Tour de France book that came out for the 100th anniversary (for this year’s tour) since he’s obsessed w. it. My BFF is getting a Star Trek mug (I’ll get her more gifts later) since she is into that sorta stuff. I bought my mom a cute cardigan as her main gift (she loves that sorta thing).

I’m planning. I think I’ll be making quilts for everyone except my FI. I’m not sure what I’ll do for him.

I have. I have most of the gifts I’m giving friends bought already. I know what I’m getting FI. I’m going to get him a laptop in November for Christmas.

@Laurenplusalex: We’ve already gotten a lot of gifts and created, “The Christmas Hole” in our house where they are stored along with my workbench for my niece’s hand built dollhouse this year….at our house, Christmas crawls from a hole!

I’ve already decided what I’m going to buy for most people, but I haven’t bought anything yet. I may start next month. I like to plan ahead.

Me! My dad is really getting into baking bread, so I got him two great bread-making cookbooks and I’m going to get him some related equipment next week at our registry completion trip: a scale, proofing basket and some other things. I also have been researching play kitchens for my niece… buying that soon too. I love shopping early instead of taking the whole hit in December! DH and I both have January birthdays, so we try hard not to be too tapped out at Christmas to celebrate our bdays.

@Laurenplusalex: I holiday shop the same way as you, although I’ve been in a tight financial situation this last year so I haven’t been too diligent. I think this year I’m just gonna bite the bullet and only get presents for my nephew, even if it makes me look cheap. The adults don’t need presents.
