So.. A coupon for DSW came in the mail, so I moseyed into this giant shoe warehouse and found myself enviously eyeing the beautiful thin, strappy silver heels with dainty flowers and details.. and then being irritated that because I have giant, size 11 hooves, I'm pretty much going to be forced to wear flip-flops on my big day. Anybody have any suggestions for wide and big feet? I would really love some beautiful sparkly flats, at least...!!

Im only 5'4, and I wear a 9 or 9.5. My FI calls my feet "hooves" and "canoes".  Frown On top of that, I have a minor cankle problem. Overall, I just have really strong legs.

This is thebest site I have found for great shoes in larger sizes! I work in a costume shop and this site has been great for finding unusual or large sizes

    (Plus i use it myself since I'm 5'2 and wear a 9)

Another thing to do might be to look into Drag queen shoes, since your feet should be in about their normal size range (mens 9-10)

I have size 9-10, depending on the shoe. I have no suggestions. I haven't looked since I'm using flip flops from my senior ball. Payless might have stuff for that though. Maybe Shoe Dept.

So this post has turned me from a board lurker to a poster! (yay).
I also am a size 11, so I feel your pain. I actually like DSW because around me they put bright yellow "11" stickers on any size 11s.

I also generally stick online and use Zappos (zappos.com) and Barefoot Tees (http://www.barefoottess.com). Basically anywhere that you can sort by size and width is good. I also have looked at http://www.designershoes.com and http://www.marylandsquare.com (which has 11's, but not many dressy shoes). Also I've found that higher end retailers like Nordstrom or Lord & Taylor tend to have size 11 online, but they also tend to be more expensive. Lastly, Nine West makes most of their shoes in 11, but you'd have to look online.

Good luck! There are shoes out there.

OMG...my large footed sisters!  I'm a size 11 too!  I get a lot of my shoes from Victoria's Secret.  They have a lot that come in 11 and I also get a lot from Newport-news.com.

I'm going to have to check out the sites listed here.  Thanks for sharing those.  It's difficult to find them and I almost always buy a pair of shoes that fit that I like whether I need them or not just because they are hard to come by.

    I feel your pain, girls!

I am an 11-wide, so I have it doubly hard out in shoe land! Here are some places that sell a lot of 11 size shoes:

    payless.com

    zappos.com

    shoes.com

    roamans.com

    silhouettes.com

    avenue.com

I'm a size 9.5! And I am soooooo tired of not being able to find cute shoes on clearance! No one has ever made fun of my shoe size, but I'd like to be able to wear the same size as my mom so we could share Frown

    I wear a 9 :)

So the other day I'm sitting around talking to some middle aged women I know, and we're comparing foot sizes, and they're all talking about their 'pre-' and 'post-pregnancy' foot sizes. Apparently all of them gained at least a full shoe size when they got pregnant!

I have never heard this before, but apparently it's quite common. Yet another reason I never want a little alien squirming around inside of me... yeck.

Hi!  I wear a 10/10.5, and I wear a lot of dressy shoes for work.  My go-to designers are Nine West, Calvin Klein & Cole Haan - and I get most of my shoes from Zappos.com and Nordstrom.  You may also want to try the brand Nina for your wedding shoes - they are surprisingly comfortable & affordable!

I'm a size 11 too!  I agree with a PP about DSW & their size stickers.  I just walk up and down the aisles and look for the sticker, then look at the shoe.  No disappointments that way!  I've seen a bunch of pretty sparkly shoes in the clearance section, so just keep looking.  I shop at zappos.com all the time too...free shipping both ways helps too.

Thank god for the bright neon yellow stickers to remind us we have skis for feet!  Lol!

But I also find it rather convenient.

I don't have big feet but I have big feet for my size. I'm 5'1" and I have size 8 and wide feet to boot. My sister is 5'2" and she wears a 7. My other friend is 4"11" and she wears 6.5. We were out dancing once and she complained about her shoes and I told her I'd switch her if we wore the same size. She asked what size I was and was like "Holy **** you have big feet!" My hubby says "you don't have big feet, you're just sturdy" So nice!

I'm 5'4"-5'5" and wear an 8-9 depending on style/brand but I feel like I have huge feet even though they really aren't...just looking down on them from above makes them look large. And being a figure skater I always thought my boots made my feet look huge and wanted to have like little size 6's

hi, size 10 here, I'm only 5'3"!  It sucks sometimes, but I have fallen in love with Nine West, especially their rounded toe heels!  I have bought many pairs, even online and haven't found a pair I don't like.  The rounded toe makes my feet look shorter which I like, even though Stacy on What Not to Wear says to go with pointed shoes to enlongate the legs, I need to shorten my feet!

I'm a 9.5, but my feet are wiiiide. My grandpa, who was a petite man, wore a size 7EEE!  Unfortunately, I took after him in the feet department. I can never find cute shoes that fit my Fred Flinstone feet!

    @daydream - I was an 8 1/2 before I had kids - now I'm a 9 - 10 (but mostly 10) It's true!  :(  Sorry

I have a hard time because size 10s seem to sell out - or rather stores seem to only get one or 2 pairs in that size and they go quick.  I shop DSW when I can.

I'm a size 11 in shoes. I love shoes, but they don't love me. I'm a curvy girl too, so I was never able to wear couture anything. Why couldn't I at least have had dainty feet so that I could indulge in designer shoes? The boyfriend wears a 14 in men's and says "Aww look at your cute little feet." If we do end up married, our kids are screwed on foot size.

I'm not the only one!!! I am a size 10.5/11 and WIDE! I actually go to a specialty shoe store and get a WW in most dressy shoes. Unfortunately most of the specialty shoes are ugly and something I would be wearing at age 80! I live close to NYC so I am going to be going there actually soon to find some nice heels. Another thing I have done is a google search for wide width shoe stores.  They always carry the big sizes and my width. I am dreading shoe shopping but will start early and hope to get lucky Smile

@eloping: I just laughed out loud. It's not often you hear the phrase "online tranny stores are the BEST" hehe okay I'll grow up now :)

I've got size 10.5 feet so I can get into some 10's and sometimes I need 11's! I'm tall so if I had smaller feet I'd look out of proportion... I've embraced my big feet!

I shop at Aldo a lot, they always have larger sizes... I never have trouble finding shoes actually. Another option is Ebay! My friend always buys her shoes there- brand new & always fit!

@Rcessionsita, those exact words came from a lovely footballer sized guy that was wearing a leather skirt, glittery top and strappy heels at the time - i was at a expo and there was a booth for men that liked to wear chicks clothing and i asked him where he got his fabulous shoes from and he let me in on the secret.

My feet aren't so much long (I'm a size 7) as they are quite wide with weird arches. For that reason, I cannot fit into the majority of shoes that are available and thus I avoid shoe-shopping as much as possible. I don't even look at shoe websites because I know I wouldn't be able to fit in any of them and most of them don't have brick and mortar stores where you can go try them on before you buy. All that said, the best place I have had luck with finding shoes is JCPenney, Macy's, Dillards or whatever major dept store there is. I've found that I cannot even shop at Target, Walmart, Payless, Famous Footwear, etc because they don't make them wide enough that I can get my toes into them, much less the rest of my foot, even with their so-called "wides" they carry.

I'm 5'2" and have size 8.5-10 feet, depending on the shoe. My mom and my sister are both 6-7.5. : (

I kinda like it though...and I wear heels (very rarely, admittedly -- I'm a runners girl). Why on earth should larger feet hold you back from that?! I'm sure that heels come in size 11, and who says that they wouldn't look good on you?

*raises hand* Size 10 wide or 11 here with an INSANELY high arch! We are talking skyscraper arches.  I'm in love with Nordstroms I buy like $800 dollars worth of shoes and just bring them back after I try them on. Love it!

Torrid has really really cute shoes for wide ladies and I've been buying tranny shoes for years! I love them! I'm so glad to hear other ladies advocating them.

A secret on the tranny shoes, the padding on them are insanely comfortable, b/c they have to support a lot of man/woman in them :) I can wear my tranny shoes for days on end and have gone so much as 6 inch heels.

Tranny sites (friendly) that I love are:

    www.bananashoes.com

    www.electricboutique.com

I had no idea a size 9 foot was big...although I am 5'10" so that doesn't seem big for my body.  I never have problems finding cute clearance shoes or shopping online at Nordy's, zappos, piperlime, etc.
