(Closed) Who gives this bride away?

OMG me neither!!!! The minute our officiant mentioned this in our consult I said no waaay…He said he could say something else like “Who presents this woman to this man” or “Who brings this bride today”…Those sound better, IMO.

We used… “Who presents Catalina to Gerald today?” Response: “Her mother and I do”

We had a Catholic wedding and they don’t ever use that line apparently, so it wasn’t an issue for us.  I don’t like that line either though!  I think you can skip it altogether if you want, but I’ve also heard things like “who gives their blessing for this marriage” (or something similar, can’t remember the exact wording) and then both sets of parents would say “we do”.
