Just curious, who do you trust to have a copy of your house key?
My parents & brother have a copy of ours and I’m completely comfortable with that. But FI’s aunt got her hands on a key from our house and I am not happy about it, especially since she won’t give it back. FI’s cousin was feeding our cat for a couple days and was supposed to leave the key for us, but brought it home instead, where his mom grabbed it. We really do not get along with her. FI keeps asking for it back, but she won’t give it back.. and I feel like that’s weird. I always thought you didn’t really give your housekey out to very many people.. especially not people who you don’t really like.

Only me & my husband have a key to our house. But I would only give a key to my parents & my sister, I wouldnt be comfortable with anyone else having it.

Both my mom and DH parents have a key to our house.

We both have one. If I need my best friend/future sister-in-law to look after my cat, for example, I’ll give her my key. No big deal.

My best friend. She’s the only one, unless someone is staying with us for an extended period and need to come and go as they please.

Just his parents since they take care of our cat when we are on vacation. We are not comfortable with giving our house key out to many people. I don’t think I’d give a copy to anyone other than our parents or siblings.

My parents have a key, along with hubby’s and mine. My parents usually check our house out if we’re gone for a long period of time, so I just gave them a key to keep. Also, just in case, I lose my keys and hubby is out of town for business.

Us, obviously, our dog walker, my sister, his mother, and a friend who also helps with our dogs (I have a key to her apartment as well since I feed her cats when she’s away). It seems like a lot of people have access to our house, but with three dogs it’s nice to have people we can call at a moment’s notice if something comes up at work so someone can let them out or feed them.
OP- if someone has a key to your home and it makes you uncomfortable, I’d change all the locks & give a copy to your parents & brother.

Besides my hubby and I, just his two good friends and my sister (who keeps on loosing hers anyways). If my parents lived closer I would probably give them a copy. But besides that only very close people that I trust, and might have a possible need for it.

Only my husband has a key. We don’t have any family very nearby, but even if we did they probably wouldn’t have a key unless they actually needed it for something.

Obviously DH and I have a copy, but we gave one to my mom too.

Only people (other than our landlord who is only in the area 6 months a year) is my parents. They only live a couple miles away, so they always check on things when we’re away (and we go away more than we should). Also, they are our go-to dog sitters when we don’t take our dog with us, so I feel comfortable that if they need something doggie related, they are just a drive away.

No one, but we’re making one for my brother and his wife. Possibly one for my mom and DH’s parents.

FI, me and his brother. His brother is self-employed and he has a copy because we have renovations going on right now and since he lives only a street away, he lets the contractor in and then locks up afterwards.
