That’s a shame, why?

He has about 40 relatives, I have at the very least 75.

@Lulume:  Sorry to hear that 🙁

The bf definitely has a bigger family. In fact, his IMMEDIATE family with his parents/step parents, siblings, and siblings kids is bigger than my ENTIRE extended family with all of my aunts, cousins, etc. Allowing his aunts and cousins to come easily adds 50-60 people, and that’s if we don’t allow kids.

I had more at our wedding. His all live in Buffalo, NY and it was way expensive for all of them to fly.

FI have bigger family with his aunt and uncles and their kids, he was at 70!! I set the limit at 200 so we get to invite a 100 a piece but I told him from the looks of it he wont be able to invite any of his friends because his family going to take up his count lol.

We are split:

My side: 80

His side: 10

FI’s parents are significantly older than mine, so he has no grandparents left, and not many aunts/uncles.  Plus I think he comes from a small family anyways.  My family is just overly huge.

I’ve got about 25 on my side. FI has about 100 on his. But mine all live nearby. The majority of his will have to travel for the wedding.

My FI has a bigger family by far. I only have my mother’s side and he has both (and a stepmom). I’m an only child, and my mother is one of four. I have one biological first cousin (and one bio second cousin) and a couple of step cousins. Both of FI’s parents are one of four. Both aunts and uncle on mom’s side have two kids each. Dad’s side have all been married, divorced, and remarried. They all have kids (2, 3, 3, 4), and most of them are married. JUST family, FI has 45 people invited. I have 18 (that includes spouses).

@Lulume:  My family is ridiculous. I have 4 siblings, my mom also has 4, and my dad has 6. Three of my siblings are married with children. We are eloping so I won’t have to worry about about a huge guest list. FI has a tiny family who we barely speak to. On the bright side, he is marrying into my family and considers them to be his family too. That’s one of the great things about marriage 🙂

I do, by far. Our guest list (about 160), is probably 70 my family, 15 his, the rest are coworkers or friends. He has more friends than me, though 🙂

@Lulume:  Why not just have “mixed sies” in this case?  That way some people can be closer to the front than they would have been.

Sorry your family sucks. 🙁

My FI and I have probably the same number of family members, but mien all live fairly close, so I’ll probably end up with more.

My family definitely. My dad alone is one of 13 kids. Most of them are married and have a few kids too. My FI’s entire extended family is less than that 13.
