Very cool thread! We had mine custom made and it was actually inspired by another ring that we had seen (....and taken pictures of) at Spence Diamonds. The ring there wasn't exactly what I wanted and I didn't like the idea of being forced to accept their in-house diamond grading system, so we went with a private jeweler and had many changes made to the original design (and had the rating done by GIA). One day I will have to post the story and photos of how it all came about. I love it!

I had fallen in love with antique illusion settings from the depression era and I feel like halos are similar in that they give the impression of a largre stone in direct light and also the details when its not in direct light
I've toyed with a few ring ideas, and finally found myself in love with plain shank halos. Moonadea's halo made me decide that would be it for me. Ginger123's got a sapphire plain shank halo that made me decide to get a sapphire until the Amora Gem comes out. :)

When I first came onto this site, I was waiting and ring-less. I am now still waiting, but the ring is staring at me from the cupboard...
Picking my ring took a while, but I can say I was heavily influenced by the bees on here.
So, here is a pic of my beauty:
I was influenced by deathbydesign and Miss Tattoo originally to get moissanite. Also, Mrs.Estep with her stunning marquise solitaire (originally) and matching metal band, and even her new set, again with the way she had the plain metal band, has influenced my choice of wedding band. Finally, couawilou, with her unique swirl band made me lust for something unique. The above pic isn't the best, but the shoulders are slightly twisted in towards the stone.
