I have a fear that I look orange when I spray tan and no one tells me the truth. I go to the best places like Portofino but I am just afraid that I really have an orange tint and no one is telling me...

    What are y'all doing?

I'm going to have someone spray tan me.  There is a place where I live where she has you undress and sprays you with her tanning formula then rubs it in to make sure there isn't any streaking etc...she also will shade it so that your stomach looks smaller/thinner.  She'll customize the color as well so I will probably go a month prior, get a lighter color, then a few weeks later get double dipped so I'm nice and tan.  I used to do tanning beds years and years ago and it's just so bad for you and I started noticing the women that would go in and how OLD they looked, so I stopped that.  I've never tried the spray tan booth but my sister has and she felt like an Ooompa Looompa when she came out.

I'm too white for faux tan. It all just looks orange and artificial on me. :p

I can often tell when people do a spray tan! Especially here in Canada because we don't normally get THAT dark in the summer so I will do it in a bed to prevent tan lines!

Another thing to worry about with spray-tan is that this is dye, and it's dying your upper level skin cells. Well, problem is that if you sweat, a lot of times, the dye in said skin comes out with the sweat, so you get orange rings and stuff on your clothes! I would NOT want that with a white wedding dress. When I used to use it (and looked like a fool), I ruined so many pretty white dresses/shirts/etc.

I don't tan-tan (either tanning booths OR at the beach), and I didn't want TOO much color.  I used a subtle self-tanner (the Olay Touch of Sun) for the week leading up to the wedding.  I stopped using it a day or two before and exfoliated, so that I had a little bit of color, but nothing too drastic.

I'm actually doing both the bed and spray tan. I don't use the bronzer option in the spray tan. I'm doing both cause the beds can dehyrdate your skin and I don't want that! But I won't spray or bed 2-3 days before the wedding. So I can even everything out and not look too fake.

Yay for being Asian and perpetually being tan. The weird part is that I am constantly staying out of the sun to try to be as fair as possible! lol.

NEVER use a tanning bed.  That is how to get cancer in a box.

Spray tans look fake.  Don't like them.

Bronzing lotions give the best effect.  I won't apply it the few days before the wedding so there won't be a chance of getting it on my dress.  (Thanks for the tip, fiftyfootbride!)

I'm too scared that I'll turn orange with a spray tan so I'm using a tanning bed. I work at a tanning salon, so I get it free... might as well use it for my wedding.

I do spray tan sometimes ... I also go in the standup sometimes ... but I will say to you this: I do not plan to do spray tan before my wedding. It can become uneven .. and there's nothing you can really do. I've tried it all.

The only sure way to get a tan with no streaks is to go in the bed. Which could cause you burning, peeling, sun spots and blotchy skin.

I fake baked for my wedding only.  Then we went on our honeymoon and I started using the SPF 50 again - now I'm all tan lined again :P

I wanted to do a spray tan before the wedding because I know that I want a tan but I'm scared of the health risks associated with the tanning beds.  I'm considering just riskin it though because the spray tan has more potential of coming out wrong.  I've done it before, the one where the person airbrushes you and she did a great job but who's to say that the next person will do a good job too?  Scary stuff!

I usually like to be my normal pale self 90% of the time, but sometimes I use one of those gradual tanning moisturisers, I think the one I use is by Dove. It gives a little bit of colour and doesn't rub off. I use it on my lily white legs in the summer sometimes.

Anyone that is thinking of trying a spray-tan or anything like that for the first time, I've never tried it myself, but I'd suggest you do it aaaaaaages before the wedding, get photographed with it and so on, so you can review whether you like it or would make changes in plenty of time.

I usually have a light tan by May 1st, being in Arizona. You just can't help it if you are at all outdoorsy. I'm just going to have to make sure I don't have the usual halter tan lines. I need to get a strapless bikini top to avoid the lines.

I love tanning beds! There's no greater feeling than lying in a warm bed and having 20 minutes of silence to myself.  I know this isn't the safest route but it's enjoyable.  If you use the right lotions, bronzers, and after tan lotions - you can have a beautiful tan.

I've also done airbrush tanning think it's great.  You don't look orange, it last for about a week, and after one session you have a great tan. If you go on your honeymoon right after the wedding, I'd be cautious that it might start to fade.

OMG, Please DONT use a tanning bed!  They are so BAD for you!  I can't believe people use those things still.  Didn't you all see the articles this summer about how those cause skin cancer more than they previously thought!!!

Au natural or self tanning lotion is the way to go!

I suggest going out and getting a spray tan done. Much safer and less damaging to your skin in the long run. Coming out orange won't be an issue if the person you go to knows what they're doing. :) If you're really worried though, just do a test run long before the wedding to see how it turns out for you.

I've also heard about tantowels- you can google them- they are just like the lotions but wipes. I haven't tried them, but a relative said she went to a wedding where the bride used them & she looked naturally tan. I really want to try them & see about using them for mine!

My wedding is in January and I plan on being as pale as can be.  I am scared of tan lines and of cancer.  I figured pale is a good and natural look for January!

I'm generally content being pasty because I can freckle with no problem but I can't tan to save my life. I did try sunless tanning lotion a few yrs ago and it only made me look sickly orange and definitely fake. I might change my mind though if I come across something safe that looks remotely natural.

I'm not planning on tanning at all. I don't make any effort to be tan in my day to day life... why try to look different for the wedding? I just want to look like me :)

I just booked an appointment for a spray tan, hopefully it won't be too much!  I want a little bit of a glow, but nothing too extreme.  I am pretty pale (which I am okay with!), but I got some nice, criss-crossing tan lines across my back when I was on a snorkeling trip in Mexico in May.  The lines are barely there now.  Even though I booked the appointment for the spray tan, should I just get regular self-tanner?  I don't want to look too dark!  Anyone have good self-tanners to recommend?

I once tried the booth that gives the spray on tan (palm beach tan?) and it looked unnatural.

However, that being said, a friend of mine went to a very upscale salon here and they had somebody do it for you and hers turned out fabulous!

So that's what I'm going to do.  And do a few trial runs first.

As far as tanning beds go, I see melanoma patients every day now and it's imho scary.  Very scary.  It took the life of a friend of mine in his late 50's earlier this summer who we knew from work.  I see it every day at work and people have them pop up everywhere.  Just be aware and be safe.

I will probably just tan gradually in the sun but wear a decent spf and then go for a spray tan to get the glow but honestly, I use the gradual tan stuff at home to give my legs a glow b/c I am scared of tanning beds.

I'm getting an air brushed spray tan.  I'm super pale and need color.  The place I go to does such an amazing job (very natural color) that I've fooled a Native Floridian and a sun worshiper.

If you go to a good place, it won't look orange.

I will tan the natural way by laying out in the sun with san tan lotion on. I went tanning in a booth a few times a year and a half ago, and the last time I went, I just started getting really hot, and freaked out and got out, and have never been back since, haha. So yea, the natural way for me.

IMO, tanning booths should be illegal.  I've personally seen too many people (YOUNG people in their 20s) come to the doctor's office with malignant melanoma (the worst kind of skin cancer) because they tanned in those tanning beds.  If getting streaks or looking orange is a scary thought for you, how about skin cancer??  If I do any pre-wedding "tanning", it will come from a bottle of lotion!

Also, people think tans make them look svelt and young and healthy.... but if anything, tanning beds can give you premature wrinkles and leathery skin... eww!

I know it's bad for me blah blah blah, but I'll be going in a tanning bed before my wedding.  I actually tan really well and dark outside, but bikinis/tank tops/etc. leave marks and I need a nice tan.  Plus I probably won't have that much outdoor time considering it will only be the second week in June.

I'm not worried about tanning for the wedding, but I am concerned about the honeymoon! I don't want to be pasty and uneven in my bikini in the Bahamas. I've never done the tanning bed before, but I am considering it for just this one time in my life (that is my excuse). Otherwise I will use a gradual tanning moisturizing lotion like Jergens. Definitely no straight tanning lotions because those always seem to smell funny and rub off on my clothes.

Yes, I'm also tanning to get a "base" for my honeymoon.  The sun is so hot and strong in the Carribbean and I do not want to get burned!

I don't tan at all! The most I get being outside 24/7 in the summer is a little glow. So I'm just being my typical non-tan self. Its March no one expects me o be tanned!
