@inky_1:  not quite sure how I will make it thru my ceremony. My grandson (8) is going to read “All I Ever Needed To Know I Learned In Kindergarten”

We asked two friends who were more “our” friends rather than primarily mine or primarily his. It was a nice way of including a couple of friends in the ceremony in addition to those friends in our wedding party.

@inky_1:  We’re not having any but we want our ceremony to be quick and casual since it’s on the beach.  You could always ask your officiant to add an additional reading into the actual ceremony.

@inky_1:  My stepmom is doing the one reading we have in our ceremony 🙂

I asked my mom but she didn’t want to do it because she is not big on public speaking.

We just had one reading– DH’s grandma read Adam Sandler’s “I Wanna Grow Old With You.”

My mother and my FI’s oldest sister are doing the readings. One of our groomsmen is singing a song.

I had a catholic ceremony, so I needed three readers. We asked my two siblings, who were too young to be in the bridal party, and DH’s half sister.

My husband asked his father to do a reading for us and I asked one of my cousins. My cousins on my dad’s side are much older than me, so I was her flower girl when she got married. It meant a lot to me to be able to include her in our wedding day.

We asked DH’s uncle because he is a Franciscan monk, so we figured it would be fitting. Had he not been we probably would have asked a close friend (one that helped us out with decorating).

Our mothers will read for us — they’re thrilled!  A bonus: We already know what they’re wearing, and yes, it’s appropriate.  Second bonus: Cuts down on people who’ve got to be at the rehearsal.
