i wish! I'd love to include my dog, but he's a little too hyper. Let's just say my dress would be ruined right off the bat, from his enthusiastic jumping and licking. I'm scared my fiance is going to go get him during the reception though...he'll just be down the block at my mom's.
I'm in a wedding next summer with a Chocolate Lab ring bearer! I'd love to include my bullie dog, but my venue doesn't allow pets! I get anxiety attacks when I think about having to board her for the weekend! :(
I know... I love my pup so much and she is a big part of OUR life... so, I made a sign that said, it's official, she is Haley-Baley NewLast Name... (because she was my dog when we met, though now she is his dog!) See the pic!
They won't sit still for more than 5 seconds but we love them so much we put them on our invites!
@ hcritton--too cute!
For now, we have plans to include our dog Simba as our ring bearer. I bought the cutest tuxedo collar with a ring pillow sewn to the back at Hobby Lobby. We are getting hitched on the beach, and unfortunately, dogs aren't allowed. I don't care what the fine will be if we are caught. I can't bear to exclude him from the biggest day of my life over a asinine policy. We are getting married in a tourist town, which won't really have many tourists when we get married, so I am hoping it won't be a problem.
For those who are incorporating pets, are you worried they will not behave? I am worried that my dog will bark at all of the people he does not recognize...I don't know what I would do if he started barking during the ceremony!
I will be incorporating my mini-dachshund as the ring dog and we will definitely have him in some photos. Just trying to figure out how to handle him through the ceremony itself.
@hcritton: Adorable invitations! You have some cute dogs!
We are planning on getting married in my mom's beautiful backyard garden, although we haven't decided what to do about our indoor/outdoor cats yet. I think it would be cute to have them out and about during the festivities, although they don't always get along and one of them has the tendency to attack feet (playfully, of course!) Keeping them inside might not be foolproof though since people will be going in and out to use the bathroom and I'd hate to lock them up in one room for the whole day. I guess we'll just weigh the pros and cons when we get closer to the big day.
The couple over at 2000 Dollar Wedding incorporated their dog into the ceremony: http://2000dollarwedding.com/2008/08/dogs-in-wedding-ceremony.html
it's nice to know i'm in good company when it comes to wanting to include pets in the wedding! unfortunately our hotel has restrictions about dogs in areas where food is being served, but we will have 4 pugs amongst our family staying at the hotel and will definitely include them in some of the pictures (although that may be wishful thinking considering how they probably won't be able to sit still with all the excitement)!
WE ARE! WE ARE! @hcritton TOO CUTE!
Our two pups are our ring bearers. More for show bc brutus would eat them. So Theyll run down the aisle (the church AND reception hall are allowing them!) and then someone will bring them home ![]()
oh, p.s., we specifically looked for locations that would allow us to bring our dog--at least to the hotel, if not the actual wedding.
Aw I wish I could include my kitty too; my venue would actually allow it, but he is the difinitive fraidy cat. So I settled for a cat cake topper!!! Too cute, like he's looking on with approval. And I don't care if I get s*** for it, I LOVE him so!
I'm hoping to come across the "honorary bridesmaid" dog shirts I found months back.
I want to photograph my pups in them and have the pic at the wedding, maybe guest table
The fella and I have three furry, four-legged children of the feline persuasion. We love them so much, we've themed our wedding around cats and we're incorporating them as much as possible, including our save-the-dates (http://www.ashleyandlucas.net/save_the_date.png), cupcakes (each of the three flavours is themed for one of the kids), and we'll be bringing them to the location briefly for photographs (our venue is only about 10 blocks from home). Oh, and these three are the ones 'hosting' our wedding (since we're paying for it).
Other cat-related things we're doing:
I added beaded cat ears to my headband
My earrings and necklace are cats
My shoes have cat faces on them (http://www.findcoolclothes.com/products/large_photos/t2006.jpg)
We're showing "The Cat Returns" during the reception
Our invitations include a LoLSpeak translation (in addition to French) as well as a little two-cat graphic of my own design
A litterbox cake for the groom's cake
I'm crocheting my wedding flowers (cats... yarn... get it?) and adding feathers for some extra oomph
The flower girls are carrying little baskets with a stuffed kitty in each one and our rings are going to be tied around the kitties' necks. They get to wear cat ears, too.
One of my bridesmaids is going to make a tail for my dress out of the extra fabric from where we removed the train
Goldfish crackers and Sweedish Fish will be on the munchies table
Our 'cake topper' will actually be two Build-a-Bear kitties, one dressed in a wedding gown and the other in a tux, and will be sitting with the cupcakes.
We're using the LoLCat Bible translation of 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a,13 in our ceremony.
**excited**
hmm I dont believe in pets at a wedding ceremony, the wedding vows are sacred
just my opinion
Our dog will be at the wedding sitting up fron with family, but probably not involved with theactual ceremony. The inn we are having theceremony and reception at allow pets outside, so she will stay outside in during the recption. It makes both of us really happy she can be there for our day.
Our dog will be our ring bearer and my nephew will walk her up the aisle and stand with her, so she behaves. She is a big part of us, so it is a given she will be there! See my blog post on how to make an easy ring-bearer dog collar like hers! http://theenlightenedbride.blogspot.com/2009/05/make-dog-ring-bearer-collar.html
We have 2 dogs that we absolutely adore, but sadly they won't be part of the ceremony. Our venue doesn't allow pets, plus our black lab is a bit of a,,umm...nervous pooper so we knew from the get go that he probably shouldn't be in the ceremony.
But we are going to include them in our pictures afterwards. We have a great friend who has offered to be our doggie chauffer for the afternoon. She'll go get the dogs after the ceremony and then meet us for photos and then run them back to her house where they are staying. Luckily all of the locations including her house are within 2 miles of each other so it's not a huge inconvenience. I'm planing on making some cute floral dog collars with silk flowers for them to wear during the pics (the need to look pretty too!).
Here's our baby girl! (though she's not a baby anymore...)
Have a better picture where her ears are flying out as she jump-spins but don't have it handy. :)
I love this post!! We're putting my dog ("dog-ter") in the wedding as a flower-dog, she's even on our website! My neice will walk down holding her leash.
I so wish that we could incorporate our "children" into the ceremony! But none of the venues I've looked at will allow doggies on the premises :/ We have two chihuahuas- we will probably take them on our honeymoon though!
my pup (and hopefully a second by the time the wedding comes around) will be there if at all possible.
Our pup is like 1/3 of our relationship, so we really wanted to include her, but decided not to. We will, however, have her at my parents house down the road and are going to stop by to take some pro-photos with her between the ceremony & reception!
I've thought about including my fiance's family's dachshund -- she's adorable! Unfortunately, she's also not very well behaved, and so it probably wouldn't be a good idea.
She would make such a cute little wee flowergirl/ringbearer, though! But she's probably run off after a squirrel halfway up the aisle!
we are having our 9 year old akita mix baby in our wedding. He is being the ring bearer and he is wearing a tux! I cant wait to get pictures!
I wish I could! But my pup isn't well behaved enough yet. And I think she'll add to the stress of the day- better to put her in a puppy spa for the weekend!
i really wish i could. our yorkie is simply not well behaved enough. we are trying to figure out what we can do to make him part of it in other ways, like having his picture on the table #s or something. i wish he could be there - i may invest in some serious training pre-wedding so he can end up being the ring bearer.
I was thinking about incorporating dogs into the wedding but realized that it would be too much trouble, especially since my brother's dog isn't all that well behaved and our friend's dog is not friendly with other dogs.
Initially when we planned to have the wedding in our hometown, an hour way, having any of our fur babies was out but now that we're having it in our spacious backyard...I am so having our first cat together be the ring bearer! FI keeps giving me the veto but it'll happen!
Hitch and I have a special bond and he comes EVERY time I call but we'll have a backup plan juuuust in case.
I would love to have our beautiful yellow lab as the ringbearer, but it would be like a scene out of Marley and Me. She initially goes nuts with excitement when someone comes over, so I can't imagine her in a crowd of new people in formal clothes :)
If you want to incorporate your pet in your wedding and need help call Holly at AllieCat and Puppy Petsitting! I hired her and she was great! She tended to Oliver's needs at eth ceremony and reception and also watched him while we were on our honeymoon! Her rates are very reasonable for her service. www.alliecatandpuppy.webs.com . She is listed on here too! I totally recommend her...she is awesome and very professional! My Oliver was spoiled and wel taken care of! ANd I have awesome memories of Oliver at our wedding!
I really wanted to have one of our dogs either walk me down the aisle or be the ring bearer, but FH vetoed that idea, so we got a custom wedding cake topper on Etsy, made to look like them. He wasn't to sure about it at first but once we received it he was on board. As a bonus we will have a cute momento to display after the wedding.

I wish i could incorporate my 2 German Shepherds into my wedding, but as we are gettitng married in a hotel, and the reception is there too, and we are also staying there overnight, there would be nowhere for them to stay so they unfortunatley cannot come.....they will have to go into kennels for the night....... :(
