The cake is included in the cost of our venue so we had a few bakeries that we could choose from. We decided to go with the in-house baker because she had the best flavors and didn’t work with fondant. Here is the inspiration picture for the cake.

We are using a tradition bakery and are going for a meeting Tuesday. These are the pictures I have for inspiration but I still haven’t decided which way I want to go.

A small bakery in Salem is going to make mine, it was the best cake we tasted and I cannot wait for it on my big day.  The big plus side is that she did not charge extra for different shaped tiers which is pretty cool.  We are getting a hexigonal one.

I actually won a wedding cake from a local bakery last week! Before that, we were planning on making a cake ourselves or purchasing several small cakes from the grocery store.

I am making the cupcakes and giant cupcake for our cupcake tower. I am very good at cake decorating, so this shouldn’t be a big deal. I haven’t used fondant before, though. I picked some up to practive this weekend.

Here is our cake! It was made by a lady that ONLY does wedding cakes. The bottom tier was lemon with raspberry filling and the top two tiers were chocolate with bavarian creme filling. The cake had a buttercream frosting covered with a very thin layer (of GOOD) fondant. The flowers were hand made out of gum paste.
