I am, I am! I work for the Fed Gov't, so that's one of our holidays.
My office is always open on MLK Day. We only get the major holidays off. I work for the corporate office of a popular retail chain so as long as our stores are open, we're working.
I have the day off! But then, I don't have off for Presidents' Day. Our company is a little weird. We have 7 holidays including MLK day.
I am off...although since I am home for the THIRD day in a row due to the weather, I am not as excited about it as I once was....LOL. On a side note, my daughter now has school b/c that's the first make-up day in our school district. So I will be home alone....now THAT I love =)
I have to work. We only really get Thanksgiving, Christmas, Memorial Day, New Years Day, Labor Day and Fourth of July off.
I'll be working. Who wants to hang out on WeddingBee that day commiserating over being at work while so many are off?
In the past I've never had the day off, but now I'm working for a non-profit and we do close the office on MLK. No President's Day though :(
I'm off, but FI is working! I'm a probation officer and he's a software developer.
I'll be working like always. We never close and we don't get paid extra for working holidays...it sucks!

But, because I am my boss and own my business, I could take the day off if I wanted to! lol!
I get MLK and President's Day off. I am AA and I would take MLK day off anyway...even if I had to use a vacation day.
@DeaconBride: Just out of curiosity, what do you normally do on MLK day? I am AA as well, but I would be at work if we didn't have it off.
@LetsGoPens: Yep, thats our holiday schedule, and we have no extra holidays other then those too.
Seems like the poll is pretty split, if the majority is off, I'm going to tell my boss! (haha, not really, I just took a week vacation off last week, so its too soon to complain ;)
MLK day is supposed to be a day of service. Volunteer your time helping a cause or learning more about MLK and what he has done for the United States is what MLK is all about. Most companies do not participate in the day of service or partake in any MLK events so its a normal work day.
Stock Market is closed, so I have the day off!
Although I will still be getting up early because my car has to go in for service.
FI has to work that day.
I'm off. I work in a financial services industry and close whenever the stock market is closed.
Stock Market Closed = I get to stay in bed as late as I want. Woo hoo. I need a long weekend!
@Moose1209: I SOOOO want to do that Monday. But the VW dealership asked me to have my car in before 10am.
They also busted my butt when I asked when to bring it in. He said 7am to tease me just because he figured I had the day off.-
We will be here. We get very few holidays in the advertising world. BUT I'll be out for part of the day at the baby doc - so I think I'll celebrate by getting a nice long lunch as well.
I have Monday off and Friday as well, because of a state holiday, Lee-Jackson Day. I'm a state employee.
I work for the fed. gov't so I'm off Monday, but FI is private industry so he's gotta work. I still have lots of planning to do so I'm sure I'll be busy all day!
I'm off because I used one of our "Floating Holiday" days.
DH is a bank manager and he is off because banks are closed. Today is his last day actually, because he took thur/fri off. I am uber jealous. But, I do get to WORK FROM HOME TOMMMMM. snuggle time with DH and furbabies! :)
Out of here Friday and off Monday!!!
Wish I had somewhere to go though
I'll be on a cruise, so I'll be off anyways. Otherwise I would have to work.

Poll Time!
I was surprised to learn that my office will be open on Monday. In the past I worked in the non-profit sector and we always had the day off.
Now, I work for a consultative sales firm and am beginning to learn that we pretty much never close unless it is mandatory.
So besides those that are teachers or work at banks, who else has to work on Monday? Maybe I've just been in my little non-profit bubble and didn't realize the rest of the world works on Martin Luther King Day :)
